• MUM STORY INCOMING • I’ve had so much fun delivering gifts to all the mums these last few days. Something that has really struck me is the abundance of love of a mother. When you speak to them about their children , no matter their age, their eyes light up, they are so proud. their motherly warmth is extended to all children, no matter if you are their kid or someone else’s kid. My favourite delivery was to Shirley, when I arrived the smell of cookies was wafting through the screen door and Toto, Africa was blaring on the radio. Shirley yelled ‘hello, I’m coming’ before she even saw who was at the door and was so thrilled with her Fiddle Leaf Fig, she couldn’t speak highly enough of her beautiful son Paul and how thoughtful he was to send it to her and how she would call him ‘directly’. It reminded me so much of my grandma, I couldn’t stop smiling. She brought me inside, showed me all her plants and gave me a freshly baked cornflake cookie that were still cooling on the rack. Shirley was such a sweetheart, she offered me a cuppa which I regrettably had to decline because I had so many deliveries to do but she understood. Life is busy, she wished me a very happy Mother’s Day for tomorrow and it just filled my heart. Mums have so much love for their kids, and they demand so little in return. Maybe not all mums but Shirley, and my mum too and my grandma and many of the mums I have been very lucky to have known. Happy Mother’s Day mums
