My sweet Kayla. The first picture is someone living with chronic pain but enjoying life as best as she can. The second one is a day later, suffering from the same chronic pain, after being forced to leave a family vacation early. Invisible diseases such as #endometriosis are challenging for others to understand. Living with my sister I see her daily struggle, many times to get out of bed or walk. She even recently bought a cane (shout out to @selmablair, the Queen of canes). I’m so proud of how strong she has been her entire life, but especially the last six months. Undeniably the strongest person I know and I want to show her off (because let’s face it - she’s gorgeous ) as well as bring awareness (because 1 in 10 women suffer from endo and countless others from invisible diseases). Stop and think about it: school nurses are usually the first to know when teenage girls have endometriosis symptoms. To properly educate them would make an enormous impact in decreasing the delay in diagnosis. There is an organization called @endowhat who is running a school nurse initiative.
