Aletsch half marathon ✔️ Today was especially hard because 1. I only had 4 weeks to train and 2. Because running up hills ain’t really my thing. This half was more than just a run, it was a major feat of personal endurance and forcing myself to take each and every step, no matter how much my legs and my hips screamed at me to stop. I’m proud of myself for pushing hard, and not stopping despite me wanting to every 5 seconds Now, I’m boarding a flight back to Denver. My sore legs will thank me for the needed recovery, although the rest of my body won’t like sitting in one spot for 12 hours. See you soon USA!

Backcountry goober vibes. But on a more serious note, it’s not much of a secret that I’m alternative with how I identify in regards to my orientation. Pride month is a special time - one where I seize the opportunity to reflect on how lucky I am to live in a time and place where I can love who I choose to love: openly, proudly, whole-heartedly without penalty nor apology. As usual, I tend to ditch the parties and make my way deep into the wilderness to provoke introspection and gratitude: my idealism of celebration. This year happened to coincide with the summer solstice, and I found myself deep in the outdoors along the Mexico border, climbing pure white sand dunes by illumination of moonlight and headlamp. To say this was a memorable experience would be a dire understatement. I am so grateful for the opportunity to celebrate diversity in my own genuine way: one which curated the development into the man I am proud to be whilst still respecting the lost boy I once was - hopefully inspiring others toward acceptance over tolerance, and most importantly, being whoever you damn well want to be. So to all of you celebrating in whichever way brings you joy - especially y’all in Toronto: Happy Pride. May it be filled with self-love, authenticity and unapologetic diversity. And if you manage to mix in some country shit, that’s cool too
