5 years Natural This month marks my 5year natural hair anniversary . I remember getting shears and cutting of the relaxed part of my hair 9 months after because i felt i was ready and my hair had started to mat so bad. So if you're transitioning don't let anyone tell you what or when to cut your hair. If you're ready you'll know it. If you're finding it very difficult to detangle your hair and you feel let me just go natural, go for it. 5 years wow seems like yesterday but I've learnt so many things on this journey and one main thing is that Consistency is key. I bet you hear this all the time but there's no magic or quick fixes. Building a regimen and being consistent yields results over time. There's so much information online. Google and youtube is your bestfriend especially for our new naturals and those transitioning. For me i joined a haircare group on whatsapp thanx to haircare blogger @emprezzabena and also did lots of research and I'm glad i can impart that knowledge to others. How long have you been natural? I know I look super tired in this picture , washing 2 heads of thick 4c hair is no joke. . . I wash my daughter's hair every 2 weeks and on the week of her wash day, I don't do an ayurverdic mask on my hair (It takes a lot of time) instead I pre poo, shampoo, do a gloss, moisturise and style in larger twists. By doing this my wash day hair routine is short and I pay more attention to my daughter's hair care routine without rushing at all. Caring for her hair is like therapy for me (weird right?)
