Yucca schidigera (Mojave Yucca) is native to the Mojave, Sonoran, and Chihuahuan Deserts from New Mexico down to Baja California and includes our parts of Southern California. It isn't monocarpic like most agaves and gives you these interesting bell-shaped white blossoms (pic 3) each year. Leaves are fibrous spears with a U-shape cupping and filaments on the margins and a sharp terminal spines. I don't often repost, but when I do I want to make it count. It's astonishing that there are still new plants out there to be found. Everyone with an interest in Agaves needs to see this!! Described as being like a hybrid of Agave x mitis 'Nova' and Agave ellemeetiana, Agave argenteum has been proposed as its name. Huge rosettes of platinum/silvered floppy leaves, edged with a micro serrated margin, topped with a small terminal spine. This stunner will immediately jump to the top of everyone's Agave wishlist. Now we must wait patiently for it to find its way into horticulture. ”Blue Glow” Agave. ~Here’s why I love using this plant~ . • That color yo, it’s this gorgeous watercolor blue/green.. and then it has this thin little line of red/yellow that outlines each leaf. That when the sun hits it just right it actually G L O W S. Hence, it’s nickname Blue Glow. • It self propagates, yep that means you get little pups of agaves as it matures. Free plants for life . Woot woot! • She stays the perfect size, which means she doesn’t get to big . As folhas longas, rígidas e pontiagudas em forma de espadas, com uma geometria típica de folhas dispostas em roseta. Estas são características comuns das plantas do gênero Agave e também de alguns outros da subfamília Agavoidea (anteriormente tratada separadamente como a família Agavaceae). ㅤ São plantas monocotiledôneas comuns das regiões quentes e áridas do México e do sudoeste dos Estados Unidos. Algumas espécies de agave também são nativas de áreas tropicais da América do Sul. Em geral, as espécies de agaves são plantas suculentas e muito bem adaptadas a ambientes secos. ㅤ Várias espécies de agave, como a Agave angustifolia var. marginata (na foto), possuem importância econômica no paisagismo (muito apreciadas devido à geometria de suas folhas).
