Going back to the salon like ☕️ I just wrapped up my weekend in Connecticut at @_saltsociety with an awesome class on Color & communication from @coloredbykp Communication is such an underrated skill, but it is the key foundation to everything we do behind the chair and beyond. In my very first year behind the chair almost 9 years ago now I’ll never forget the woman who walked into my salon with short hair and asked for a cut “over her ears.” I said, okay no problem! And proceeded to cut her hair above her ears, so that they were showing. But that’s not what she meant when she said “over the ears.” She wanted her hair to COVER over her ears. Luckily for me, she was a super sweet woman. It wasn’t too much shorter than what she normally would gets done she was okay with it. But guess who NEVER made that mistake again.‍♀️ Some might read this and wonder why I would share a story about a mistake that I made. I’m sharing this story to show that none of us are perfect, despite what we post on social media. I hope a young stylist who’s terrified to get behind the chair reads this and finds comfort in knowing that this one mistake, while upsetting at the time, did not define me or hinder my ability to build a successful business.
