This was a good day, waking up on a floating island in Lake Titicaca

Our worsted knitted jumpers are made using 100% alpaca fibre. This grey yarn is a combination of our nine white alpacas and five black. This jumper has saved me a few times when the weather suddenly gets chilly and I must admit I am yet to wash it! Natural fibres don’t absorb moisture or dirt and instead wick away anything that would make it smell. It’s one of the many reasons I love natural fibre and especially alpaca because it’s so environmentally friendly. Very little washing means no need for lots of washing detergent or water usage. When you do come to washing alpaca always use a wool setting on the machine or hand wash. Never spin dry or it will felt. I have used the @thewoolmarkcompany setting on my machine to wash my black alpaca jumper and it’s washed perfectly. Just make sure not to hang it from the shoulders or it will stretch. Drying flat is recommended That’s all of my handy tips for washing alpaca fibre for today. What an incredible day we had yesterday at the @basnationalshow We entered some items into the fibre zone and came away with- 1st- Knitted garment with our jumper 1st- Household item with our bed throw 1st- Open yarn with our 80% huacaya and 20% suri blend 2nd- Commercially viable product with our bed throw We are also now the lucky winners of one of the Penrose fibre to product awards.
