En varios países asiáticos, el paseo en elefante es una parada obligatoria para los turistas. Lamentablemente, para que puedan tener este "tranquilo" paseo, el animal tiene que sufrir terriblemente desde bebé. A los pocos meses de haber nacido, los separan de la madre para llevarlo a "exprimir." La técnica consiste en encerrar al elefante en una jaula en la que no se pueda ni siquiera mover. Varias personas lo golpean. Si levanta la trompa le pegan, si hace ruidos le vuelven a pegar. Para educarlo a obedecer lastiman sus patas hasta que las levante. Una vez que las vuelva a bajar, lo vuelven a lastimar. Lo tienen encerrado sin dejarlo dormir, sin darle comida ni agua por varios días hasta que por fin se rinda. Tristemente, su sufrimiento no termina ahí. Durante toda su vida, recibirá golpes y maltratos. Y lo más triste de todo es que los elefantes pueden vivir más de 70 años. Siete décadas de infierno y sufrimiento. Acabemos con este tipo de turismo. Hay muchas alternativas para no subirse a un elefante.
