Papa don’t preach! I want to introduce you guys to a brand that I think this summer you need to know about @papadontpreachbyshubhika , I have not found a piece that I don’t have this reaction too . The outfits are funky, flirty, playful and the concepts are unique. This is just part 1 of this outfit btw. Also best thing is you don’t have to go all the way to India to get your hands on your pieces but can get them from @jasminenikaza who stocks these in the UK. One of my fave thing about this brand is the colours that Shubhika uses in her outfits. Blue is such a tough colour to get right but the here you get the royal boldness but the moderness of the neon beading on the skirt of the outfit. I wanted to give justice to the subtle statement of this outfit so paired it with a subtle Nath from @jewels_gems and thread-work earrings from @shingaar_coventry (one of my fave accessories). How to drape a wide border Dupatta! I know it’s been a while since I have posted a video with a tip but promise there is more on the way. Here is how you can pleat a wide border Dupatta in under 1min to wear to any function. Wide border Dupatta are the hardest to handle but the easiest to fold. Find the middle an line up the borders from each side. Take the remaining fabric and fold it behind the 2 joint borders using the width as a guide, once done just secure with a pin. Easy Peasy! Pink Lemonade! If this outfit was a drink I would definitely call this pink lemonade. I loved the subtle pastel pink border on this Lengha so to rewear it in a different way I needed to bring that subtle border out and do it justice by matching it with the same coloured Dupatta. This way you get a slight different combination on this lengha without loosing the montone impact. These 2 colours are such summer colours and kind of make me smile when I look at them. Did somebody say Cake?! That is literally my face at a function - wait, who we kidding that is my face anytime somebody says cake is ready. It’s also the only time I will get off the dance floor lol. Anyone else agree? Here is one way to tone down/ rewear this kind of tulle Lengha with waistband embroidery - wear it with a plain top. This red plain raw silk blouse with 3/4 sleeves is one of my staple items in my Asian cupboard. Sometimes a fully embroidered blouse is too much and so change it up and get the most out of it. A plain blouse like this is ideal as it works with all prints and textures. I would highly recommend adding it as must have. Now back to cake! I will literally eat any cake but if I had to pick it, Black Forest gateau is my favourite!! What is your favourite cake? The new kind of 3 piece suit! I honestly can’t explain how light weight & comfy this Dhoti outfit is by @tayariiclothing. Plus you have the option to wear it as a 3 piece suit as well, as it comes with this beautiful georgette kimono style jacket. We have seen lots of alternative to wearing Dupattas these days - capes, shawls, jacket, ruffled wraps etc but I think one of my fave alternatives is this kimono style cape. You have the option of also wearing it with a standard dupatta of course with the outfit but I kind like the drama of this kimono style georgette cape. Naughty but Nice! I wanted to change the outfit up from the previous post, so decided to go over to the dark side a little with the metal spiked @louboutinworld a dark lipstick and adding a banarsi dupatta from @they_room .To me it’s kind of being naughty and nice at the same time. Nice Indian girl with the traditional dupatta but naughty with the split it the skirt and the dark lippy! Aunty ji won’t know what to do with herself I reckon! Also I love my @louboutinworld spiked court shoes but they really are not comfy. They spend more time in my cupboard looking pretty than on my feet. These shoes weren’t made for walking. Intricate vs soft necklines! I love different necklines on blouses and often try to experiment to see what suits and works. Pic 1 is an example of a intricate neckline and pic 2 (swipe right) is an example of a rounded soft neckline. The intricate neckline is more detailed with the cuts from the embroidery which to me always comes across a bit more glamorous. The soft-neckline is classic and elegant and works with most shapes and outfits. For me the neckline also helps determine the choice of necklace that I pick with an outfit but to be fair a chocker is one of the versatile ones that work with practically every neckline (except maybe a high collar cut). Plus this a Kundan chocker which means it works with pretty much any outfit too. What’s your favourite neckline? Throwing it back...way back to the 1960’s! One of my favourite era’s in Bollywood is the 1960’s. Just something about their style is so glamorous. Everything from the winged eyeliner, to the skin tight suits to the huge hair just exudes high class glam. Also who can forget the double sari drape that Mumtaz (Bollywood Actress) made famous. Even though the 60’s is way before my time I have been fascinated by their fashion. So, when my masi (Aunty) decided to throw a 60’s themed Bollywood Party I could not wait to dress up and bring out my inner 60’s glam - I am pretty sure I was also born in the wrong decade sometimes . To create the look I went for a plain tight suit with a pyjami (trousers) and a printed dupatta finished off with the signature beehive. I actually worn the kameez of this suit a few posts back with a salwaar to create my punjabi look. I totally love this look and think it even works now because it has a “Forever Green” feel.
