Apparently today is National Sewing Machine Day! I’ve got three of my own machines; a vintage Singer similar to this beauty although not pink, it’s from 1939 and works perfectly and was a present from my Dad & Step-Mum for my 30th. ⁣ ⁣ The machine I sew on at home is a @janomeuk DKS100 and I love it, and I also have a non-computerised @brothersewinguk machine which works really well too. I tend to only get it out for projects that require lots of top-stitching though so that I don’t have to change threads all the time. ⁣ ⁣ We’re a Janome Sewing School so are very proud to partner with them and our students can learn on the fab new 230DC machines. ⁣ ⁣ What about you, what machine do you have? Thought I’d share a full view of my backyard since I’ve put in a lot of work back here lately. A little tip, every fabric I have out here is washable the mattress on the daybed is covered with a washable throw rug, all pillows have covers or the whole thing can be thrown in the washing machine and I can even wash the seat cushions at the table. Photo shoot for my Great Grandmother’s Singer Featherweight 221. It hasn’t been out of the case in almost 40 years (except a hand full of times when I’d peek at it growing up). This is a 1941 production model that she made garments with until the late 70’s. 11lbs total weight, runs smooth and quiet as can be. These machines were referred to as the ‘Seamstress on-the-go’. . . . . . . . . I never met the woman but have been told we have a similar spirit. She rocked a murdered out all black front plate.
