What does a weekend away do to you? For me, it starts great and ends in tears and exhaustion. Our weekend in Copenhaegen was amazing, but as soon as I stepped on the train home the tears started pouring. Too many impressions, too many people. For some, a weekend away is something you need another weekend to recover from - it's okay. With summer holidays coming up, remember to take care of yourself and listen to your mind and body. Sleeping can be #vacaygoals too ✨

Let's look at an example of doing this (see photos above) from my own life: ••• I've needed to mail some paperwork for 3 weeks (at least). It had to be mailed at the latest by yesterday (which is when I finally mailed it naturally ) ••• The steps: 1. Dig through my messy vehicle to locate the paperwork to mail. 2. Grab an envelope from upstairs. 3. Put the paperwork in the envelope/seal. 4. Address the envelope 5. Put a stamp on the envelope. *DG%EU*(WI%EF I DON'T WANT TO DO THAT!!! I DON'T KNOW IF I HAVE A STAMP AND IF I DON'T I HAVE TO BUY SOME AND IF I HAVE TO BUY THEM THEN I HAVE TO GO TO THE POST OFFICE WHICH MEANS I HAVE TO LOOK AT MY SCHEDULE AND FIND A TIME TO GO BUT THEN THAT PUTS ME OFF MY ROUTINE AND I HATE THAT AND THEN I HAVE TO REMEMBER TO ACTUALLY GO WHICH MEANS 3 DAYS OF IGNORING THE ALARM I SET AND FEELING STRESSED FOR PUTTING IT OFF UNTIL I'VE WAITED UNTIL THE LAST DAY AND AM FREAKING OUT AND THEN AT THE POST OFFICE I HAVE TO TALK TO PEOPLE WHICH I'M BAD AT SO I AVOID BECAUSE WHAT IF I SOMEHOW SAY THE WRONG THING WHEN I ASK FOR STAMPS #^#^@>>, I CAN'T DO IT!!!! 6. Put the letter in the mailbox. ••• Can you identify the step I was hung up on, the one secretly preventing me from starting the task? ••• So, before I tried to get started, I decided to just go rip off the bandaid and look to see if I had stamps. I did! Crisis averted! ••• I was able to quickly mail the paperwork like it was no big deal (now, if I had had to buy stamps, I would have had a couple more hurdles, of course ). ••• I wish I would have written out the steps earlier and seen what the problem was, addressed it, and moved on instead of letting the stress of procrastinating constantly hum in my mind. ••• Maybe you need to do the same with something? ••• Alissa #wonkybrainclub

ACTION! After a weekend of love in the French countryside, it is back to the grind for me and a busy & exciting few weeks ahead filming a @climbflow project to unleash unto the world! There are a myriad of conditions out there to tackle - my focus & experience is in depression [clinical] and anxiety disorders, which affect millions of people - the most wonderful, kind, capable people.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ MY MENTAL HEALTH TIP this week for anyone battling intense anxiety & low, depressive mood: Get out and M O V E. ⠀⠀ Climb, run, yoga, cycle, swim, or as little as a 10 minute walk - IT WILL HELP to elevate mood and calm down your mind. It might mean forcing yourself to, with only the "rational" argument that it WILL make you feel better afterwards, but it works every time. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ When I get overwhelmed and anxiety takes over, I want to retreat and getting out climbing, the thing I love most, seems the most difficult thing to convince myself to do. but I do it. Ayooo where mah high-achievers at?! ‍ I see you. You're a move and shaker with big visions, big goals, and big plans for what you want to create in the world. . And sometimes those big ambitions can make you overwhelmed out of your mind. . When you have a new idea, you first get super excited and filled with inspiration. . Then, you start trying to micro-manage & plan out every single PERFECT step you must take to make that ish happen. . You become so overwhelmed that you don’t even know where to start anymore, and you doubt your ability to achieve anything at all. . Enter: ACTION PARALYSIS. . I've been down this exact same path. . The FASTEST way to switch from overwhelmed action paralysis to actually taking action toward your goals is this: . TAKE THE FIRST (IMPERFECT) STEP. . Yep, just one step. Not a perfectly planned out step. Not a leap. A step. . Ask yourself, "What can I do in this moment to move forward?" And start there. . That ACTION creates MOMENTUM which then allows creative solutions and infinite possibilities to start pouring in. Soon enough, the steps start to add up, and the big picture doesn't seem so overwhelming. . You don't have to have the entire path figured out to start taking action.
