WHO WANTS TO WEAR SOME COLOR WHILE STARING AT ART WITH ME?! I got invited to stand in front of "Billboard" by Grace Hartigan at @artsmia (of which I said “you don’t have to twist my arm”) and the energy off that painting was electric actually. ⚡️✨I believe art is like that. Color moves through my eyes to my belly and my heart and I feel differently after staring at a piece for awhile. I feel damn good. There’s nothing quiet like how a painting’s colors and movement can make your spirit buzz.  If you’ve ever traveled to MPLS, you know what a secret we have in the @artsmia museum. It’s a free museum?! And an important part of our community and access to the arts here in MN (for over 100 years). The Mia Gala Party is coming up on May 18th and this will be my first year going to it, already sweating about what to wear in the best way. Tickets are on sale till April 10th before price goes up (only $100 right now!?) and all proceeds support Mia’s mission of inspiring wonder through the power of art, something I believe in pretty dang deeply. It’s a night of music, DANCING YES DANCING, food, dranks, fashion, community, and someone told me I could wear a gown so I’m all like HELLZ YAAASS, I haven’t worn a gown since prom (if we want to call that a gown…). In the fall of 2017 I got to paint this mural inside the shop at @artsmia The opportunity alone left me a little without words, as I was just beginning to explore the world of mural work for myself and this museum was a sweet part of that story for me. These shapes are inspired by the artworks around the museum. So basically I’m tryna say @artsmia means a lot to me and hell if it hasn’t given me countless moments of inspiration and connection to the larger world of art. Fast forward to NOW- Im headed to their annual #MiaGala fundraiser to support their ongoing efforts at providing our community with art, experiences, and wonder. Tickets proceeds help continue to let this museum be free! Which is insanity. So next weekend (the 18th) I’m gonna dress up (love any excuse really) and make a night of it and I’d love to meet any of you there too! What better way to spend money I think!
