Back at Versailles after 10 years While the Hall of Mirrors is the most famous and majestic room at Versailles that was used to welcome and impress ambassadors to France, it also started a conflict between France and Italy - one of the first espionage in history. * Louis XIV hired skilled workers from Murano to come and work in France. With their help Minister Colbert opened a mirror making store in France (that still exists today!). * But when the Venetian government found out they decided to prosecute the families and everyone involved with those artists who left for France - to keep the monopoly for glass making. * In Italian style from that century (Borgias’ style) they also poisoned workers who were intending to leave. While France tried sending a boat to Venice to quietly extract most of the people involved, most Venetians glass makers begged for forgiveness and never worked for France again. * Nevertheless, all those mirrors at Versailles were nationally made using the technique ‘stolen’ from Venetians... * That was a long story. Mon jour de gloire est arrivé. La consécration ultime. Me voilà #influenceur #influenceurfrance alors que je ne suis ni barbu ni tatoué ni même piercé. Pour être honnête je ne pratique pas de yoga, je ne suis allergique à rien et ne suis même pas flexitarien puisque je suis de la génération où l’on se contentait d’être omnivore. Bref cette reconnaissance affichée par la république française dans les locaux de leur ambassade bruxelloise m’a fichu un sacré coup au moral. En plus je déteste le granola au yaourt au petit déjeuner. Bon et bien maintenant je n’ai plus qu’à acheter des followers sur FB et je pourrais recevoir le badge suivant : blogueur. Yesterday, we went to the champaign grape fields, which was quite an experience (check out my stories!) And in the evening I was yet again, treated with the most beautiful warm sunset.
