It’s Founders Day in good ‘ol Drip this weekend! Every year my hometown celebrates its founding back in 1850 and over the years the festivities have brought more and more people out our way to party with us. It’s definitely more crowded then it was back when I was in school but there is still so much community spirit! Lastly here are some notes & words of wisdom I’ll pass along from the Keynote by @brenebrown : “ 1. Shine a light on stealth expectations - be relentlessly honest about the intention behind what you’re doing. Be very clear - what is this going to make better for you in your life? Let those things inform your decisions. What is it that you’re really after? What are you not saying to people that you want? 2. FOCUS: say no to the things that take you away from your path to achieving your goals. Be as proud of the things you say no to as the things that you do. Play the movie to the end - what matters most? Does this opportunity serve the work? Protect the brand you’re building. 3. Obsess over the brand. Everything is a debit or a credit. Every time you interact with someone it’s either a credit to your equity or a debit to your equity. It doesn’t need to be perfect but it needs to be right. 4. Gritty faith and gritty facts. Jim Collins book, ‘Good to Great.’ Always know the numbers and what is realistic. Don’t kid yourself about that. 5. The Story of the 5 C’s: color, context, connective tissue, cost of doing it and consequence of not doing it. Teach people why things are important to you. . . Slower & closer > further & faster. . . Don’t get caught up in comparison. Right in front of each of us is this most amazing life. It goes so fast and by the time you’re 50, people have died, are getting divorced, your kids have struggled. It’s enough. . . If you think you’re going to do what you want to do and not disappoint or piss off people, you’re just wrong.”
