...while other stickers I spot at the wreckers are just a bloody kick to the heart. All three of these on cars made, sold, used thoroughly and then scrapped in the same damn state I saw them in all these years later. All products of the late '80s; still early days of a decades-long downward spiral for Australian automotive manufacturing (complete cars - there's still a few making quality components!) that largely came to an end late last year. Yet it never would have lasted as long as it did if not for the cars being as good as they were. The cars themselves only got better and better; SO right for local roads and a ton of car for your dollar (..and sure, some government support making up for the sad-but-completely-understandable nonchalance of their parent companies). But with expensive labour and no protective taxing, unless your product is too competing in other major world markets (..a difficult argument to an also-overseas parent company no doubt!), how the hell will you have the money to adapt and develop product to suit such rapidly changing market tastes? One platform to use for 10+ years, fighting for a fraction of a fraction of a tiny market?! Yeah, no. I understand. C'mon, it was still killer in the 80s!Something I've oh-so-very rarely snuck (sneaked?) into the last 1400+ posts: the April '76 (very late HJ) Holden Monaro GTS sedan I've had for a solid decade+ as my go-to occasional-use cruiser.
