Insalata di pomodori con dressing di arachidi, avocado, chips di tofu fritte, riso locale proveniente dai campi che potevo vedere intorno a me mentre mangiavo, e verdure saltate.
Throwback a uno dei pranzetti sul lago Inle, in Myanmar. Qui ho lavorato per alcuni giorni in un piccolo paradiso chiamato ‘A little eco lodge’, una guesthouse/ristorante a conduzione famigliare che ha come principale obiettivo quello di sostenere l’economia e le tradizioni locali, portando avanti anche l’antica arte della tessitura.
Ho trovato per caso un loro biglietto da visita in un ristorante. Il nome contenente ‘eco’ mi ha portata a dare un’occhiata al loro sito e il loro concept mi ha subito affascinata. Quindi mi sono buttata e gli ho scritto chiedendo se avessero piacere di fare una specie di scambio/lavoro.
Pochi giorni dopo ero lì, accolta come se fossi una di famiglia, a creare video per loro e fare foto che avrebbero potuto poi usare per il loro sito.
Una piccola storia dal mio capitolo birmano per ricordarvi che noi siamo i creatori della nostra realtà. Noi abbiamo il potere di crearci opportunità anche dove apparentemente non ci sono. La capacità di fare della nostra vita un capolavoro è nelle nostre mani. E io sono fermamente convinta che se abbiamo un sogno, dentro di noi abbiamo anche la forza per farlo diventare realtà.

Restaurants are meant to do food business and there are many who are doing really good but there are very few who connects with their customers emotionally and they let the business flourish automatically. Shree Shivay is one of them.
Shree Shivay makes you realize how simple and basic food which is rooted with the culture and roots can be a divine place to have a quality time and gives you a feeling of homely belonging.
The location of the place is bit away from the chaos of the city.
Mr. Piyush Verma has been a great host for us on the day we visited his place. He welcomed us warmly and his hospitality was reflecting his vast experience and personality. Shree Shivay happens to be a pure vegetarian restaurant (they not even use onion and garlic). .
. FOOD ---- Shree Shivay only serves thaali which is a fusion of various cuisines from states like UP, MP, Bihar, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Punjab. We had sandalwood khas, chaach, safed kadhi, raita, kheer, aalu palak, matar paneer, rajma, daal tadka, dhokla, sabu dana papad, banarasi poori, aalu cutlet, coconut ladoo, khichdi, jeera rice, pulao, roti, parwal ki sabji, mithi chutney, hari chutney, coconut chutney, pickle. One can imagine how humoungous would have been the thaali to accommodate so many items. But the taste was totally like home cooked with balanced spices. .
. AMBIENCE ---- The interior may give you a feeling of a royal dining seating space with cozy furniture and soothing interior. Everything was very perfectly placed. Hygiene has been one of the key factor on which the owner especially focuses and it was clearly visible from the kitchen tour as well. .
. SERVICE - The staff was very courteous and they were dressed in ethnic wear. They were very professional and took care of every minute detailing. I liked the unique way they washed our hands with rose water before we started our lunch and used lemon water to clean our hands after we completed.
P.S. - I highly recommend this place to everyone who want to enjoy Indian vegetarian thaali with quality hospitality in Varanasi.

Layered and moist inside/ flaky and crisp outside. Pan baked layered dough Turkish specialty BÖREK. Olive oil and yogurt mixture between the layers makes it moist without being fatty. Become the “center piece “for our Sunday brunch to share with lovely friends. Filling can be variable. This is Vegeterian/spinach and white/feta cheese.

Authentic Sichuan food is where it’s at! Order some great meats, a noodle and rice dish and get ready for the mala to set in!
Mala is the oily, spicy sauce that the boiled fish is smothered in. It’s tasty, it’s spicy and it’s numbing. You’ll know it’s happening when you take a sip of your water it tastes different/ weird. It’s such an interesting experience, even when you know it’s about to happen and it’s a signature of Sichuan food.
The toothpick lamb was good but maybe moreso because it was fun to eat. The meat was a bit dry and didn’t have much flavor but I still licked those toothpicks clean.
