Happy Father's day to all the dad's out there Here's a recipe I'd like to share on this special day in honor of my dad! This is one of the last photos I have of me abs my dad. Miss you so much everyday!
My dad (aka The Fast Man) was an incredible cook. He was particularly known for his perfectly grilled hamburgers.
This is my adaptation of his burgers. Although I give instructions for cooking the burgers in a grill pan, feel free to use an outdoor grill (which is how my dad always grilled them). What’s your favorite memory of your dad?
_______
THE RECIPE
Ingredients:
• 1 lb 100 percent grass-fed, pasture-raised ground beef
• 1 tbsp Bone Broth
• 1 tbsp garlic powder
• 1 tbsp onion powder
• 1 tsp dried thyme
• 1 tsp freshly ground
• black pepper
• 1⁄2 tsp fine sea salt
Instructions:
1️⃣Place all burger ingredients in a bowl. Using clean hands, mix together well. Shape into four patties.
2️⃣Heat a grill pan or skillet over high heat. Grill the burgers on one side for 4 to 6 minutes. Turn the burgers and grill on the other side for about 5 minutes, or to desired doneness. Serve with toppings of your choice.
Enjoy!
I've done it, my patients have done it, and so can you.
________
Basically, the foods you will avoid are either toxic or inflammatory. Everyone should avoid toxic foods and minimize their exposure to inflammatory foods.
The foods you will eat are healing and nutrient-dense.
The proteins will supply you with the amino acids you need to support your immune system, among other functions.
The fats will help heal the cells of your gut wall, providing further immune support.
Complex carbs, fruits, and vegetables will provide the fiber you need to support friendly bacteria that inhabit your gut and the rest of your body.
You need to give your self permission to slow down. It’s ok to sit down and enjoy your meal. It’s ok to lay down for 20 minutes if you need a break or go to bed early if you’re tired. It’s ok to listen to your body and give it what it needs.
This is the foundation of self-care. The spa, pedicures, etc. are all great, but I think we’ve found ourselves wanting to do these things in place of actually taking care of our basic needs.
All too often we push and push until we become exhausted, depleted, or worse, get diagnosed with some sort of health issue. And then, even with a diagnosis, we just keep pushing and then wonder why we aren’t feeling better.
Give yourself permission to take care of yourself. I know this can be difficult (I totally struggle with this!) but if you drive yourself into the ground then you won’t have the opportunity to serve those around you and be the parent, spouse, friend, sibling, teacher, professional, etc. that you were meant to be. #thyroidhealing #autoimmunehealing #hypothyroidmom #hyperthyroid #hashimotoswarrior #gravesdiseasefighter #hypothyroid #hashimotosthyroiditis
I know you think you'll be living with autoimmune for ever and that its just something you have to suffer with.
Identifying yourself as your disease, letting it manipulate your choices and desires.
I'm here to tell you that is not the truth. Disease is only "dis" ease in the body. We are self healing and our cells are constantly changing.
I'm not saying it's going to be easy because it will be work, years of work. But we can bring our bodies back to a state of "ease". This work is inner work... self development, self actualization, self love and ofcourse the physical aspects like diet, alternative health practices (acupuncture, essential oils etc) will have to follow.
If you don't start with the inner work first, nothing is going to change.
SO practice positive self talk (if you're mentally attacking yourself, your body will follow with physical attack ... hence #autoimmune
Maybe subconsciously you dont believe you deserve to be healthy... so start with positive afirmations, self help books, podcasts, journaling whatever works for you.
Just know that this whole autoimmune journey is a long one, but it is leading you to the greatest things in life... happiness, gratitude, unconditional love for yourself and others, joy, ease, clarity and growth❤
Double tap if you believe you ARE healing yourself!

I usually just have olive oil, salt, and pepper on my salad. Sometimes I’ll add balsamic if I’m feeling fancy.
What’s you’re favourite salad dressing?

Cruciferous vegetables are rich in antioxidants and phytonutrients that support cardiovascular health and overall cell growth. You can read more about my take on cruciferous vegetables, just follow the link in my bio
In addition to the health-promoting vitamins and minerals, these vegetables also contain goitrogens.
Goitrogens?
A goitrogen is a compound that suppresses the thyroid gland by inhibiting the uptake of iodine. It gets its name from the word “goiter” an enlargement of the thyroid gland. Cruciferous vegetables are rich in two different goitrogens: isothiocyanates and thiocyanates. Animal studies suggest that consumption of cruciferous vegetables, including broccoli, kale, and cabbage, can lead to suppressed thyroid function. However, evidence that the same thing happens in humans is lacking. Unless a person is deficient in iodine, the consumption of cruciferous vegetables has little or no effect on the thyroid. Fortunately, iodine deficiency is very rare as most people consume table salt fortified with iodine.

Animal studies have suggested that GMOs might cause damage to the immune system, liver, and kidneys. ⠀
::⠀
Roundup has also been shown to alter the microbiota and create an environment of increased intestinal permeability. Scientists are studying the interaction of this chemical with the detoxification capabilities of the liver, going as far as to say this is a “textbook example” of environmental triggers disrupting homeostasis and leading to an autoimmune response, including excessive inflammation in the brain’s memory center, the hippocampus. ⠀
::⠀
It is also linked to gastrointestinal disorders, obesity, depression, autism, infertility, cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease.⠀
