Nusa Penida was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. In order to make the most of the one day we had there, we organised a day tour with a driver, who drove us around to the main sights on the west of the island. Despite seeing these places time and time again on Instagram, such as the famous t-rex shaped Kelingking beach, I was still blown away when I saw them in real life. Photos barely do them justice . But there’s another side to Nusa Penida that isn’t talked about as much - it is absolutely TEEMING with tourists. I was well aware of how touristy Bali had become over the past few years before going, but I guess since Nusa Penida is a much smaller island, it is more noticeable there. I was not prepared for the amount of tourist vans and mopeds I would see on Nusa Penida. Traffic jams of cars and bikes travelling from one tourist site to another on Nusa Penida’s rather ~rustic~ roads (ourselves included). I won’t go as far as to say that this ruined the experience for me, because it didn’t, it was still a freaking amazing day!! However, it did slightly take away from the magic of this beautiful island. . But please, don’t let this stop you from visiting Nusa Penida, because you would be missing out on one hell of a place! It’s just one of those things that you don’t see in the beautiful photos that are posted on Instagram, so it’s something I wanted to share with you Like I said in my post yesterday, I promise to be honest and give you the full picture behind the picture!
