For the past few days the lyric “kids are so unkind to kids of different kinds” has played over and over in my head. There’s so much unnecessary hate going around, and I find the simple words that Frank uses to address this problem in Young and Doomed to be extremely powerful. A lot of people have asked how I met Frank. Here’s what I did: *Note that I am broke and did NOT buy any VIP tickets or pay any extra money to meet Frank* There are a few things that I have seen working for people to meet Frank. The first one is waiting by his tour bus right after his set. That didn’t work for me because he was sick and had to leave to get rest. What did work for me though was waiting for him around 3 or 4 before his sound check. I had waited 4 hours the night before and the security guard was kind enough to tell me that I had a chance if I came back the next day. Frank was really good about taking everyone waiting for him into consideration, so when we said hi to him as he went in for a sound check he told us he’d be out in a little bit. I’ll tell you more about what happened then later. Essentially the key to meeting Frank was patience (haha pun sort of intended). I talked to people about how they met Frank at other shows and I talked to the security who were all really nice to me. Also If anyone wanted to know how I got in the front row at the show, I got there around 4:20/4:30 (doors opened at 7) and I was the second person in line (the people before me were VIPs anyway). When we went inside all the space on the barrier was taken up, so I asked a man with a Taking Back Sunday bag if he was there for Frank. He said no I asked him if my friend and I could take his spot up front only while Frank performed. He said yes and then after Frank had played a few songs he said “I see why you wanted to be in front! These guys are so good!” and I said “yep!” or something like that. What I’m trying to say here is that you shouldn’t be afraid to ask people questions because the worst thing that could happen is they say no. ~ I hope that sharing my experience helps you guys get a good spot or even meet Frank. Even if you don’t, have fun at Frank’s show and remember that even if you don’t meet him on your first attempt you probably will at some point because he’ll tour for a long time. Remember to just take it all in and have fun no matter what! Also talk to the people around you! (Unless they seem shady, then obviously don’t!)
