Video que nos comparte @aleradetic de un M4 Sherman perteneciente al Ejército Argentino, el mismo se encuentra en el Regimiento de Caballería de Tanques 8 de la ciudad de Magdalena, Buenos Aires. . Argentina comenzó a recibir M4 Sherman a partir de 1946. A diferencia de Chile, una parte importante del lote recibido por los argentinos eran Sherman ex-británicos, por esta razón, tenían muchas modificaciones respecto de los norteamericanos. La más importante era el cañón, ya que no era el tradicional Modelo M3 de 75 mm. sino el inglés 76.2 mm, por ello fueron llamados Firefly. Así Argentina llegó a poseer casi 400 tanques Sherman, de los cuales la mitad eran el modelo Firefly. Ya para la década de 1960, los Sherman en servicio eran 266, de ellos, 152 eran Firefly. . En 1978, debido a la inminente posibilidad de guerra con Chile y a que el programa de desarrollo del TAM estaba aún en fase de prototipo, se comenzo un programa de actualización de 120 Sherman, obteniendo así los llamados Sherman Repotenciados. Entre las modificaciones se tuvieron: mejoras al tren de rodaje, suspensión, orugas (fabricadas en Argentina), reparación de casco, cambio de motor y cambio de cañón. El cañón elegido fue el francés FTR de 105 mm. So I saw this and thought I would give my opinion on it. In this video we see the loading of a l44 in a controlled environment with little to no variables you would see if it were a actual tank. The loader gets around the 4 second mark which is impressive but not the important thing. What matters is if your loader can consistently load shells, and when his ready rack runs out, how quickly he can locate ammunition in other parts of the vehicle. If he can consistently manage 5-6 seconds for a duration of 30-45 minutes, THAT is impressive. But in this video we can tell this isnt in the actual tank and the loader has way more space than he would regularly have, not to mention how much slower he would be after another 10 minutes of loading 60lb shells. This is where autoloading systems come to use as you know you will get the same loading time down to the millisecond every time. Trouble with most autoloaders is ammunition storage (particularly Russian ones) which offer a huge weakness in the carousel.
