SHOUT: During a routine hovercraft exercise, @hoylakelifeboat received reports of a beached porpoise off Meols. A multi-agency operation ensued between the @rnli, @wirral_coastguard_team and the @bdmlr_uk to assist the porpoise and return it to the water safely. Coastguard and BDMLR volunteers were assessing the porpoise’s condition as Hoylake Hovercraft arrived on scene. The BDMLR determined the porpoise was healthy enough to be returned to the water and the RNLI hovercraft was moved into position to recover the animal. The BDMLR carefully lifted the porpoise onto Hoylake Hovercraft alongside the Coastguard and the RNLI crew. Can’t quite believe this happened but @ben_taylor_14 assures me he saw her too and there’s some shakey ‘there’s something in my eye, I’ve got hay fever in winter’ footage too... SPIRTLE!! . I hadn’t seen her since the day she was stranded on the beach almost 3 years ago and then she pops up right in front of my kayak!! . Six days in but year made!!

Managed to rescue this little lady today. It was such a shame, we saw her and tiny calf earlier in the morning when we were out training in the outriggers and to see her stranded on the beach made it all the more painful. Thanks to some swift acting passer by, towels from the centre and copious amounts of water she thankfully was re floated by the British Divers Marine Life Rescue. Can you "seal" it? Look closely in the first photo... So 6 dogs and a seal pup all the dogs were impeccably behaved and kept their distance, I took photos as I made a phone call to BDMLR #britishdiversmarineliferescue because I was concerned for the pups welfare, they asked me to send them photos so they could make an initial assessment. After receiving the photos and detailed information on it's location they said they were going to send a medic down to check on the pup to see if it needed to be helped. What an amazing area of natural beauty we live in surrounded by amazing nature. Completely privileged to be able to spend so much time surrounded by it.
