If you set really low standards for yourself, you get to feel proud of yourself really easily. Like by not over-eating for once, not forcing myself to finish my half of Sunday's salt beef beigel and by buying 6 plain beigels to take home, I had a top leftover lunch and felt a bit smug. The addition of a and I'm patting myself on the back so hard they'd better get an ambulance ready (Also never realised these beigels looked like peachy little bums before. How cute! )

As I’ve been on this journey teaching myself to cook, the one item my friends have enjoyed more than anything else have been my rainbow bagels! I found a great tutorial by Steve’s Kitchen on YouTube and decided to give it a go! In January, I made my first batch and was blown away by how easy and good they were! These bagels were made with color gels and did take quite some time to make mostly because of the six dough colors, but the result was outstanding! A simple plain bagel with beautiful colors inside and out! Great taste, great chew and loads of fun! I’ve since made many more batches of bagels, including egg bagels and classic New York Style Everything Bagels, but despite how much time these took I’d happily make them again and again!
