If you don’t think girls play baseball, you’ve clearly never seen the @peachesbaseball play before
•
In the fall of 2015, parent Carly Accardo founded the Peached, an all-girls t-ball team in Arizona, so her daughter could play with other girls. Two years later, the Peaches had expanded to five teams with the hope they would tack on a few more in the next year or so.
•
Now, four years after their first game, the Peaches aren’t just a string of teams—they’re an entire baseball club, with 13 all-girls baseball teams competing in the @eastvalley_baseball league.
•
Let that sink in: 13 teams. Over 150 girls. All ages 9 and under. •
What’s her secret you ask? •
“I’m not sure we have a secret,” says Accardo, founder and head coach of the Peaches. “Girls see us play and they say, ‘Oh, I didn’t know girls could play too. I want to play!’ Then, they get a few friends, and a few more friends, and then before I know it, I have another team forming.” •
Three of the Peaches teams are dominating in their otherwise all-boys baseball league, with the Rookie AA Pink standing undefeated with a 6-0 record. This year, the 9U Peaches travel team will be heading to #BFANationals for the first time to compete against other all-girls baseball teams from around the country.
•
#Girlsbaseball is growing nationwide—and baseball clubs like the Peaches prove it every day. Join us in welcoming these 150 girls from Arizona to the #BaseballForAll family. We can’t wait to see you in action at #BFANationals. •

More news hot off the #BFAWaldmanSeries: Elise B. and Maddy B. from the 13U @bostonslammers will now be playing baseball for their middle schools in Vermont. •
Maddy, a tall, cleanup-hitting 7th grader will be suiting up behind the plate and playing the corners for her school’s A Team. Even though she was the starting catcher on her Little League All-Star team last summer, she was a little wary going into this season. “I was nervous for at least a week before tryouts, but once I made the team, I kinda let the pressure go.” •
15 miles down the road, 12-year old Elise will be making her middle school baseball team debut this spring as well. Already a powerhouse pitcher for her Little League, the Slammers, and her new boys elite #travelbaseball team, this RHP is adding starting pitcher and shortstop for her middle school baseball team to her resume. •
Big to these two up-and-coming stars for blazing the way for girls all across the small, but mighty state of Vermont

For the past few years, Alex Oglesby has been coaching staple in the #girlsbaseball world: a coach at the #TrailblazerSeries, a co-coach of the two-time winning #BFANationals 18U championship team—and now, a coach at the first-ever #MLBGRIT Series. •
Armed with her experience as a former @usabaseballwnt gold medal-winning catcher, she feels it’s her responsibility to pass that knowledge along. •
“The game of baseball has given so much to me,” she says. “It’s always great to be a part of events like GRIT where you get to work with the next generation of ballplayers...and to show them [what] is possible for them. We just need to provide opportunities for them and spread the word!”
•
We’re proud, grateful, and humbled to have coaches like @asick77 who give their time and expertise to help #growthegame and be true #rolemodels for girls in baseball across the country. •

“You’re not tall enough.”
“You’re not fast enough.” •
Standing at about 5-feet tall, 14-year old Carina knew she would never tower over anyone or be the quickest person on a baseball field. Growing up, she would often hear boys from other teams whisper behind her back—“She’s a girl! There’s a girl out there playing!”—but comments like these never fazed her. •
In fact, it helped keep her focused—motivated, even. •
“Playing against boys, I know that I have to get stronger, get faster, get better, but I’m going to do what I need to do to get on the #highschoolbaseball team.” After putting in countless hours during the offseason, this high school freshman, a respected, power hitting utility infielder, is one of the first girls to suit up on the JV Baseball team at her high school in Northern California.
•
“Carina's success proves that baseball players come in different shapes and sizes, as well as genders,” says her father, Javier. “You don’t have to be tall. You don’t have to be fast. And you don’t have to be boy to be able to play baseball.”
•
Congratulations to Carina for making the JV squad and for showing girls everywhere that #girlsplaybaseball—and they’re pretty good at it, too

Two words: barrier. breaker.
On what would have been his 100th birthday today, we tip our hats to Jackie Robinson for breaking barriers and busting down the doors for others to play. Now, our girls carry on that same legacy, blazing their own paths to make sure baseball really is a sport for all •

“I have constantly been discouraged from playing baseball. [As a 4-year Varsity baseball player,] I still have adults at my high school trying to persuade me to switch over to the softball team because they don’t understand why I play baseball instead of a sport ‘that was made for girls.’ Although I am aging out of #BFANationals, I want to be able to offer my unique perspective as the only girl on my [Varsity] high school baseball team to provide ideas on how to prepare girls for the level of play and culture of high school sports. I believe Baseball For All is integral in the journey towards equality and female representation in baseball, and I would love to be a part of it.” – Justice A., 18, @baysoxgirlsbaseball
When we say #thefutureisfemale, we’re looking at high school seniors like @yoostice to lead the way. Big ups to another one of our inaugural #BFACaptains, representing the West Coast. Check back tomorrow to see who else we’ve got on the team

Before she turned 10, Clara was already being told by coaches and teammates that baseball wasn’t a game for girls. So, she considered her options. “I felt that I would rather continue to love baseball and not play, than to hate it because of how people were treating me.” That year, her parents partnered with #BaseballForAll to create the @lamonarchs, so she would still have opportunities to play baseball in a safe, positive environment. “For once, I felt I was somewhere where I belonged—among people who had experienced the same things as me,” says Clara.
Fast forward four years, and this 14-year old is helping turn the tide, taking the initiative to #growthegame for girls near her hometown in Southern California.
Not only is this eighth grader independently fundraising to help other girls get to #BFANationals this year, but Clara is also organizing a 10U all-girls baseball game—FREE for all interested girls. •
“Baseball has been a huge part of my life. When we were asked to address an issue we were passionate about for our Community Impact Project [at school], the answer seemed obvious. Having experienced gender equality issues very early in my life, I chose to work to empower girls in baseball and teach them that no matter what people say, girls are unstoppable.” •
We’re proud to name Clara, this passionate, eloquent, drive young woman as our first #BFAWomanoftheWeek in 2019. Sign up to play at the 10U game on January 20 or help Clara reach her $400 fundraising goal with the #linkinprofile
