Glycolysis The pathway of glycolysis as it is known today took almost 100 years to fully discover The first steps in understanding glycolysis began in the nineteenth century with the wine industry For economic reasons, the French wine industry sought to investigate why wine sometime turned distasteful, instead of fermenting into alcohol. French scientist Louis Pasteur researched this issue during the 1850s, and the results of his experiments began the long road to elucidating the pathway of glycolysis ❗️ Functioncomplete degradation of glucose for ATP production occurs in the cytoplasm of virtually all the cells of the body
There are two types of glycolysis:
▪️Aerobic Glycolysis It occurs when oxygen is plentiful. Final product is pyruvate along with the production of Eight ATP molecules. ▪️Anaerobic Glycolysis It occurs when oxygen is scarce. Final product is lactate along with the production of two ATP molecules. is an extramitochondrial pathway and is carried by a group of eleven enzymes ✨Glucose is converted to pyruvate in 10 steps by glycolysis ❗️is the only pathway that is taking place in all the cells of the body
❗️Most of the reactions of the glycolytic pathway are reversible, which are also used for gluconeogenesis
❗️The glycolytic pathway provides carbon skeletons for synthesis of non-essential amino acids as well as glycerol part of fat
❗️Glycolysis is the only source of energy in erythrocytes
❗️The glycolytic pathway may be considered as the preliminary step before complete oxidation
❗️In strenuous exercise, when muscle tissue lacks enough oxygen, anaerobic glycolysis forms the major source of energy for muscles

Guess what this is ?! My first published first author research article !! For those of you non-scientist/engineers - the order of the authors of a published scientific article carries weight Traditionally, the first and last authors listed are the first places many people look when glancing over a manuscript
The first author, or lead author, is typically the individual with the largest contribution to the research and the person who wrote/edited most of the manuscript. On the other end, the last author, or senior author, is usually the group leader or PI (principal investigator) who supervised and/or enabled the work (). I’m currently doing one last read through of my article before it’s sent to press, and I have realized that I am not the best with my comma placement (not going to lie this was a slight shock - I always thought of myself as being decent at punctuation two missed commas in 11 pages!). Do any of you have any issues with grammar while writing your manuscripts? I am curious how everyone overcomes their challenges! Did I make any errors in this post? #grammarpolice #sciencewriting #drdevphd
