Removal of a lipoma by @justageneralsurgeon. A lipoma is a slow-growing, fatty lump that's most often situated between your skin and the underlying muscle layer. A lipoma, which feels doughy and usually isn't tender, moves readily with slight finger pressure. Lipomas are usually detected in middle age. Some people have more than one lipoma.
.
A lipoma isn't cancer and usually is harmless. Treatment generally isn't necessary, but if the lipoma bothers you, is painful or is growing, you may want to have it removed.

1️⃣Since becoming a new mama a year ago, Rebecca had several pee accidents where she didn’t make it to the bathroom in time.
2️⃣To avoid those accidents, Rebecca started going to the bathroom more frequently and drinking less water.
3️⃣Rebecca is now having bladder pain and leakage of pee without any warning. She’s going to the bathroom 1-2x/hour but only a little pee dribbles out.
4️⃣She doesn’t feel like her normal self and is afraid to go in public for fear of an accident.
5️⃣Rebecca talked to her healthcare provider about her bladder symptoms. After performing an assessment and ruling out infections, her healthcare provider referred Rebecca to pelvic floor rehab.
6️⃣Before the appointment, Rebecca completed a detailed bladder log.
7️⃣After the performing the assessment, the pelvic floor therapist found that Rebecca’s pelvic floor muscles were weak, tight, and lacked coordination. She also had poor breathing, poor posture, weak core muscles, and poor toileting patterns.
8️⃣The pelvic floor therapist began the following interventions with Rebecca:
-Pelvic Floor Muscle Training (helping Rebecca train her PFM to do the right things at the right times)
-sEMG biofeedback (technology that let Rebecca “see” what her pelvic floor muscles were doing on a computer screen- similar to EKG technology)
-Bladder Retraining (training her bladder to do the right thing at the right time)
-Training to improve posture, breathing patterns, coordination, and core stabilization
-Hands on manual therapy to improve movement and decrease pain in her lower belly
-Self management techniques for home
9️⃣After 6 weeks of therapy AND consistently following her therapists instructions at home, Rebecca is now:
-Bladder pain free
-Leakage free
-Urinating every 3-4 hours
Rebecca now has great bladder habits, a healthy pelvic floor, improving posture and core recruitment, and is a happy, confident mama!
-Sources include Mayo Clinic, Lukacz 2011, Abrams 2013.
-Pregnant or over 65? Going 2x/night is ok!
-There are multiple opinions on how frequently you should go pee that usually range from 2.5-5 hours for most. If you’re concerned, double check with your HCP!

AD | LET’S TALK BLADDER LEAKS
Did you know that two thirds of women have wet themselves? And 49% said they haven’t told even their closest family and friends.
There is so much shame around women talking about bodily functions and Always Discreet are working on ending the silence on bladder leaks!
Personally, I’ve always had a lot of ease around the subject from hospital. You get kinda used to talking about pee when measuring your pee becomes a daily occurrence and you have to use a bedpan - more often than not, it’s squeezed under you at the wrong angle and wetting yourself is a high risk.
Also despite the stereotype, it’s not just older women and it’s not just due to pregnancy. 64% of 18-24 year olds have these issues too!
Always Discreet are donating £1 to Bladder Health UK for every like and comment on the video from 4-18th July. So get liking! It funds a Confidential Advice Line so that more women can get support and advice.
Have you ever had an issue with bladder weakness? #AlwaysDiscreet #WeeNeedToTalk
