Maybe your success rate has been low or maybe it’s always worked out but because you don’t do it frequently you spend way more time making sure it’s all perfect than you do on every other task? Well this rotary chuck is that thing for me currently. It requires a complete removal of one rotary, removal of most of the blades aka the first floor of the laser and reprogramming of the files so it recognizes the different setup. Additionally I need to make sure I get a good measurement on the diameter of the cup. It’s critical. Lastly, making sure the cup is aligned properly. It would seem like a chuck would make that easy. Well on these cups it is. But on larger ones like the YETI 14oz it can be a bear. They don’t really fit, so I have to spend a lot more time ensuring they are on straight. In the end, it usually works out. These for Jeremy @countrysideworkshop sure did. I always love when I get the opportunity to help a friend out. I’m fortunate to have as many tools as I do, and I try my best to be a good steward of that and help people when I can. My buddy Doug @henicoknifeworksandmachining is making a box of a beautiful #mitutoyo caliper that he recently acquired at a great deal. He wanted to make a nice box for it like a lot of the Mitutoyo Calipers come in since his was simply cardboard. We lasered it up, he took it home layered some paint and will be putting on the final clear coats once the paint dried. Fun project that I am sure he will be posting in a few days. I love how this @enduramark laser marking material rinses off. If this had been any other marking material that I’ve used the cleanup was the worst aspect of lasering stainless cups. Second to application.
