Reposted from @greendirtfarm - Remembering when Anthony Bourdain visited the farm in 2011 for the Kansas City episode of No Reservations. ❤️ (Video clip courtesy of @travelchannel, watch the full episode on their website)
It was a huge honor for Sarah, and a truly beautiful celebration of her cheese and grass fed lamb. And look at that Bossa!
Sarah has said before that it was a fantastic experience to meet such a wonderful, kind human. Bourdain made a great impact on our society’s appreciation for where our food comes from and who it is made by.
It is nearing the end of #mentalhealthawareness month, as well as coming up on a year since Tony died. We want to send out love to everyone, especially those who are struggling.

On the one year anniversary of Anthony Bourdain’s death, please take a moment to remember his legacy with some of his best words of wisdom and quotes.
Bourdain opened up our minds and palates. He nudged us to be more curious and open-minded. He showed us a more honest and authentic view of the world. His presence and perspective is dearly missed.
Anthony Bourdain’s boundless curiosity and storytelling were an inspiration to us all. He brought the world into our homes and evolved our relationship with travel, food, and humanity.

FINAL IMPRESSIONS: Very rarely does one ever get to see a Michelin Starred chef in action. Yet the setup at Raan Jay Fai allows you to watch for as long as you want while you wait.
I was fortunate enough to have a front and center view from my seat. It was like having the chef's table. Watching Jay Fai's intensity and work rate is inspiring beyond description. It is not hard to see why she became world famous.
As for the food, it was simply great. Was it worth a Michelin Star? It is hard to judge, because Michelin judges restaurants based on consistency, and I have only made one visit.
Is it worth the 8,000 mile flight? Yes it is. Is it worth waiting 3.5 hours in the unforgiving Bangkok heat? Yes it is. Is it worth doing again? I have a hard time justifying a reason to do so.
Lately, I’ve been really inspired by Anthony Bourdain. “Parts Unknown” has become one of my all-time favourite shows! Bourdain connects with friends he’s made around the world, visiting a new city/country in each episode. I binge-watched the entire series.
.
What stood out to me most, is how Anthony connects with people. All of the interviews are done over a meal - from the finest of restaurants to street vendors to home kitchens. He was able to talk with people and really get to know them, through their region’s signature dishes, and as an offshoot, their background and culture.
.
He had an incredible knack for making people let down their guard and connect with him in a real, authentic way. And, he could fit into any situation - from the fanciest hotels and palaces to war-torn borderlands.
.
This photo shows him sharing a table with French chef @ericripert. You can just see the belly laughs! Boy, the adventures (and misadventures) those two had!!
.
Anthony had so many real, deep connections with people. I think, because he was such a smart, thoughtful, creative person with such empathy. But, so often, empaths struggle with all the injustice in this world. In fact, one of the reasons I wasn’t meant to be a journalist, was because I just couldn’t handle some of the situations I would find myself in - murder trials, fires where people lost everything, and the like. Of course - I don’t pretend to know Bourdain - but it just brings such a sadness to my heart to know that someone so incredibly gifted struggled so much.
.
It’s been almost a year since the world lost him. I’m so grateful he was here, and has left such a legacy. He certainly had a huge impact on me! Bourdain has informed our approach to filmmaking - helping people feel at ease, while connecting in a real way. But, we can only aspire to his greatness.

“A gastronomia teve sorte por Bourdain ter escolhido este mundo. Podia ter escolhido qualquer arte”. A opinião de José Avillez, partilhada durante uma conversa no auditório do Público, esta quinta-feira, a propósito do lançamento de duas novelas gráficas co-assinadas por Anthony Bourdain. As novelas, "Get Giro! Todos Querem Apanhar o Jiro!" e "Get Giro – Sangue e Suhi", que serão distribuídas pelo PÚBLICO a partir deste sábado, são obras repletas de sátira e violência gastronómicas. Uma iniciativa que é também uma homenagem ao apresentador, um dos grandes viajantes das gastronomias do mundo, que morreu faz dia 8 de Junho um ano.⠀
