I often get asked about the most efficient way to cut slices from a round cake...& @sugarcoatesbakery demos it best! #Repost @sugarcoatesbakery ・・・ Cake cutting video!! A few tips/suggestions: — cut a small slice off the one end of three cake - this slice will mostly be frosting! — for the next few slices, cut straight across the cake and have a cutting board handy for the piece of cake to fall back onto. — once you have the big piece of cake on the cutting board or a plate, you can cut tall, rectangular slices into that piece. In my video the pieces ended up big. I easily could have done five slices across instead of just four! Also to note, this cake was a three layer 6” cake. I got 16 slices out of it but the slices were still big! Practice, practice, practice! Whenever I’m trying something new with a cake I like to practice first on fake tiers to get the colours right. I never use fake tiers in my wedding cakes because I don’t like icing them if I’m honest, but I don’t want to end up wasting a big cake for just a practice run. Time for tier two! So you might notice the crumb coat is full of jam. I love jam in cakes so much it’s so delicious but it is so frustrating to ice with. The top two cake layers slid off the bottom just as I put this crumb coated tier in the fridge and the jam went everywhere! But I can’t give it up Also if you’re wondering, as so many people do, the amazing pink smoother is called a @profroster .
