On this #transitiontuesday , I offer photos taken two years apart. The left was taken in 2017 prior to starting hormones, with my outfit and makeup for going out to a movie with my then-wife. Funny enough, I’m wearing more makeup in that photo than the right hand one taken a couple weeks ago ☺️. •••••• Back then, had begun to go out dressed more regularly to select events. This movie was a big deal because I felt the most exposed I had been before out in public. But once the lights went out, I began to feel more comfortable with the situation. I don’t think I was brave enough to use the washroom at the theatre though haha. •••••• I want this photo to show people that a lot can happen in two years. While my body and face has changed physically with hormones, I learned to care for myself better. And that gave me increasingly more confidence to be myself in public. So to those people reading this who are struggling with your own confidence, trust yourself. You will get there one day. It’s a process that takes time. But one day you’ll look back at old photos like I am today and be so grateful you took the time to learn about yourself and your comforts. Transitioning for me I found was a little like a bubble surrounding me which was my comfort zone. I pushed at it often, but not so hard it would pop. Just enough to keep myself learning and gaining new boundary. And the speed of that pushing is entirely individual based. I love the days where you catch a glimpse of yourself in a mirror or camera and just love what you see. Transition has shown me that this has dramatically improved in the past several months. . If you’re out there and starting your journey or have been on it for a while and just aren’t happy with how you look, those days will change. I find that over time I’m becoming more euphoric over my appearance and I think it’s due to self-comfort and routine. I know myself so much better now than ever before. And that relaxes my self image and allows me to appreciate the happiness I now feel. It happened to me, and it will happen to you.
