Munjebel Bianco 60% Grecanico + 40% Carricante @frankcornelissen_winery Etna 2016 Love this wine. Thanks to @jamescosford for bringing over the 2016 from @lesvignerons in Rome. Grecanico and Carricante from the North Face (or Versante Nord) of Mt Etna. Undergoes alcoholic fermentation in fiberglass tanks and maceration on the skins for 4 days. Initially super reductive and full of sulphur when chilled but with a bit of time is opens up beautifully into a bold and fruit forward wine. When warm it smells like a winery during vintage - bright and sweet and musky. Tastes like a young ferment but is clear, juicy and refined. Great length and texture with a touch of spicy ginger and apricot. Gentle acid line and fine volcanic minerality. A real ice tea quality to it from the grip, sweetness and lemon. Excellent juice.

On this picture I am in the cellar of @pietradolce One of the highlights of my visit to #siciliaep19 Sicilia en Primeur. #Pietradolce was founded in 2005 by Michele Faro. The winery is located in Solicchiate, an area in the district of the town of Castiglione di Sicilia, on the northern slopes of mount Etna. Pietradolce means "sweet stone" in Italian. The wines from the black lava rock terroir of Etna give a sort of "sweet" tannins and an exceptionally soft and beautiful, juicy texture. It was an unforgettable journey visiting the vineyards with pre-phyloxera vines and the typical volcanic soils. You can't explain how beautiful this really was.. You have to experience this for yourself. Their wines are exceptional good It was a big honor to be invited to this great event.
