Look at someone the way Rosie looks at a toothbrush There were a lot of curious reactions to yesterday’s post about Rosie’s oral hygiene! So we thought we’d post a video and some tips! It was a bit rushed to make the 1 minute time limit, but Rosie didn’t mind First and foremost, never force your cat to do anything! The easiest way to “teach” them something is to bribe them. Rosie loves the flavor of the toothpaste, so we used it as a treat off the toothbrush. We treat before, in between, and after brushing. Patience is key! We started off only treating off the brush, then moving towards one swipe across on one side, two swipes, three, then switching sides, ect... If your cat resists, you’re going too fast. Stop for a breather and try again later or the next day. Oral hygiene is important for everyone, people, dogs, and cats! Our pups also have their teeth brushed nightly. It reduces bad breath, cavities, and a whole host of health problems such as gum disease. So while it might seem silly now, it’ll save you, and your pet, a huge burden in the long. And if they enjoy it like Rosie does, it’s a win-win! Edit: The toothpaste we use is Sentry Petrodex Malt flavor!
