"I don’t think I’ve been anywhere quite as surreal as southern Kenya. I was staying in a nearby Masai Mara Village, and I would spend each morning wandering the plains in search of wildlife. On one road I went down, I noticed these two giraffes walking together. It was almost too perfect, with soft light and Mt. Kilimanjaro towering behind them. I probably spent a solid 40 minutes just watching these two giraffes do giraffe stuff — feeling a sense of peace and tranquility that you don't find many other places. In that moment, it felt like all my problems just went away. We sure do live on an awesome planet." @davidmrule
21 hours awake + an unhealthy amount of banana bread and watermelon = 10 Grouse Grinds in one day!
Massive congrats to everyone else who tested themselves on the solstice, and thank you to the many individuals who helped crew and support: especially @newfriendnicole @zas and the June 21 Base Ops crew.

"I used to come to this small town on holiday as a kid. I recently took a trip back and walked through the Ezé Village, getting a feel for some of the streets that I had explored so long ago. The village is maze-like with narrow cobblestone streets and vibrant orange roofs. I decided I would try to capture it from above, and as I flew my drone, I noticed dramatically steep cliffs on either side of the town, accompanied by lush green forests below. It's interesting how a different perspective can lead to new discoveries; it wasn’t until I saw this place from above that I understood its true beauty. No matter how many times you visit a place, there is always something new to find."

4 yrs to the day I rolled into Calgary and my life hasn't been the same since. Alberta was never the plan but once I laid my eyes on views like this ☝️ and met all the beautiful people I now call family, I knew I was home. May we never forget what is worth remembering or remember what is best forgotten Here's to the next 4 yrs
4 years with this baby! The Foxbox is actually my third van as I realized over and over that my life cannot feel cramped ♀️.
Do I regret my foray into van life? No, but when I was 22 I spent six months of giving up my free time to install flooring and plumbing in 100 degree heat. Just last week I spent $1000 on new suspension, and another $1000 to tow it out of a sand pit. Am I blind to the inconvenience? No, but I accept it as a part of my story because whether it was the wisest choice or not, this thing is ALL ME and so many unforgettable moments.
Also, I might be in here working on a facemask and a pedi, but, um. My truck is still probably bigger than yours .
moonrise over the alabama hills
my body would say otherwise but my soul aches to be walking again. it’s now been four days in Lone Pine.
over the past days i’ve had the time to think. not only that, but to sit in my thoughts. query them, interrogate them.
a recurring one is this question: why do we walk?
it seems almost unanswerable to me. i have never been satisfied with answers that involve physical challenge, etc. surely there is something more that is motivating us.
while i was going to sleep under the moonlight, i put on a recent episode of the @routespodcast with @wilderbound as the guest.
something she said really resonated with me. it’s that, regardless of our conscious reasons, by walking long distances, we’re all searching for something.
there is far too much mystery in this universe and within ourselves that we wouldn’t want to search.
Tomorrow, Adam and I will begin our biggest adventure together yet: Fastpacking the 275k (170 mile) Tahoe Rim Trail over 5 days.
We’ll be starting in South Lake Tahoe, with a resupply halfway in Tahoe City. This will allow us to keep our pack weight to about 20 pounds, in turn enabling us to cover 45-65 km per day, with around 2,000 metres of daily cumulative elevation gain.
At some points in the year, the biggest challenge can be a lack of water for up to 50k of trail. But with this year’s high snowpack, we’re expecting to face up up to 3 feet of snow, and flooded sections of trail. Challenge accepted! #salomonsquad #timetoplay
