Every quarter, the amazing Culinary Angels run a cooking class for our Cancer Support Group. The goal? Help teach a healthier way of cooking and eating for patients, family and friends of those diagnosed with cancer! Hi. After being diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at 3 weeks old, along with multiple complications, I have spent my whole life shying away from telling people about my illness, with only my closest friends being in the know. I Feared the thought of being viewed differently, being shamed and pitied upon by others because of how CF affects me. The past couple of years of growing in to the adult I am today, it has been especially tough going through this illness alone and battling the struggles, thoughts and traits that the illness presents me. However, I have come to realise that I’m not alone on this journey. My amazingly supportive family and friends have been there right behind me for every step of the way. I have now decided to share my journey with others in the hope that I help them achieve their goals. My journey so far has been incredible at times, me and my friends have raised over £3500 by walking up Snowdon two years ago, which I feel is my biggest achievement so far! We are hoping to do bigger charity events in the near future. I have been constantly pondering about how I can keep supporting others CF sufferers or anybody with similar health issues as us, for that matter. If needs be, I want them to be able to reach out to others and not shy away anymore. The idea then occurred to me: Why not start a CF-awareness page on social media. There’s already many pages out there doing a tremendous job spreading awareness about CF; so I can take inspiration from these pages and look in to how I can bring the CF community closer together, either through listening and sharing other people story's on what life with CF is for them, or alerting people about organ donations and new drugs that can make life easier for us! I will be setting up a page on all major social media sites, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. I will also run an website/online shop for clothing with my own designs for CF like me, in hope that I inspire others to fight this battle. #cysticfibrosis #cfawareness #cfcare #cf #65roses #cflife #lifewithcf

Being listed for a lung transplant can be scary, and life after transplant comes with a whole new routine. Elissa Cohen Engel, a social worker at the Gunnar Esiason adult #cysticfibrosis care center, talks about a moment with an adult with CF that changed how she approached individuals post-transplant. #CFcare . “A patient who had a transplant said it took them a while to return to us for care. Those clinic rooms where they were so sick were painful reminders of how poorly they felt, and it took a while for them to ‘muster the courage’ to return. Until then, I had not really thought of this aspect of post-transplant care.
