RECAP
Best my squat opener has moved. Felt confident after 2nd, so went with the planned 3rd for a 2.5kg PR and missed. Happy with back tightness progress from this last block. Going to really push leg strength in the next training cycle
Couldn’t find good footing in 1st bench reminiscent of Raw Nationals 2017. Found stable feet in 2nd, but I felt my lats cramping up afterward and opted to lower third by 2.5kg to 182.5kg which would still be a 2.5kg PR. Proceeded to sandbag 3rd
Plan was to go for a 2.5kg competition PR in deads too. Opener was fast but hips were rising prematurely so I knew it was going to be one of those days . Head ref called me on my 2nd attempt for either hitching or downward motion. Lowered 3rd from planned by 10kg and locked it out but the head ref and one of the side refs called me again for either hitching or downward motion. Definitely some of my ugliest competition deads, but I’m getting better at making intra-competition decisions on what I’m capable of lifting on that day instead of being fixated on a number. It’s on me to make my lifts pretty so I don’t leave my fate in the judges’ hands
Thankful for @bartellbarbell and @usaplcalifornia for putting on a great meet. Thankful for the refs and volunteers for helping make the meet run as smoothly as possible and for catching my ass on that third squat. Happy to share the platform with good company. Forever grateful to be doing what I love with the girl of my dreams
