I jumped out of an airplane last weekend again, and it reminded me of a big truth - THANK GOD I DIDN’T GET WHAT I WANTED. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Backstory: growing up, I wanted to be a pilot more than anything. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Often the things you want most are the things you keep to yourself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I was born craving Heaven, and being in the air always made me feel closer to it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Then the Air Force Academy let me know I wasn’t “pilot qualified”. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ouch. Rejection is painful. Failing your dreams hurts. This one nearly killed me as a high school senior. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But rejection has a way of plopping you exactly where you need to be - I would argue even more so than success does. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ That hurt only taught me I don’t NEED to fly a plane to be closest to Heaven - I just NEED to be true to myself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Years later, whether I’m on a flight for a work trip, heading to an adventure, taking flight lessons or jumping out of perfectly good airplanes, I know a deeper and wider Heaven then I could have ever imagined. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The best part? It will only get better. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I hope you see rejection as an opportunity for BETTER. Your Heaven is here - in the middle of it all. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So fall in love with the process. Fall in love with the good, the bad, and the surprising. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Your title, job, bank account, location, and rejection don’t define you. You are far bigger than that. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m thankful I was rejected. Now, I can be anything - and I accept that assignment with purpose. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ That is the the Heaven I was seeking. And that is the truth that has allowed me to SOAR. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Tag someone who could use this reminder. Thanks for flying with me - love you all. ☁️

Just got back from the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. I’m staring out a window as the rain pelts down on the spring blooms. My office is a mess. My aesthetic method and website have launched. I’m confused and overwhelmed by the fact that it’s already May. ⠀ ⠀ But I’m here, and I’m along for the ride.⠀ ⠀ Tell me, dears, does it feel like May to you?

Darlings, I’ll be honest with you: I’ve been struggling with my space. Our little cottage is bursting at the seams, and while I tend to live on the more minimal side, the truth is that I no longer feel like our little home can contain our creativity.⠀ ⠀ Chris has no room for his music. I have no room for my painting. I walk into our office and feel claustrophobic. I’m uninspired to photograph in the house.⠀ ⠀ So we’re doing several things about it. We’re praying and planning for the doors to open for us to move, but in the meantime, we’re doing some massive overhauls. I’ll be thrifting and upcycling furniture to create a better storage system. I’ll be doing yet another clear out. And ultimately, I’ll just be giving myself permission to be OKAY with NOT BEING OKAY. Because it’s that discomfort that will promote change.⠀ ⠀ I don’t know about you, but I certainly carry guilt when I feel dissatisfied with my home. I think about how lucky I am to have what I have and how I should just learn to be grateful and embrace it. And while there may be a time for those pieces of advice, that time is certainly not now.⠀ ⠀ Telling myself that I need to just sit in the claustrophobia of my walls isn’t good enough for me. And I’m giving myself permission to breathe. To fight for the open air and space that we need until the time comes for us to move onto a larger starboard.⠀ ⠀ So all that to say, if you aren’t happy with your space, do something about it. You may not be able to move— but what can you do? Anything, even simple changes, might make all the difference. And darling, you’re allowed to curate a beautiful space where your creativity can thrive.

Today, we said goodbye to the last house that felt like a piece of home. The grandpa has moved away today, leaving behind an empty house that holds so many “growing up” memories for the fella and even for me.⠀ ⠀ Whenever I was sad, we’d go to ParPar’s. It was the constant ever since I moved to this country. The place we’d go for cups of tea and crossword puzzles and the same silly jokes being told over and over. The place where I’d fondly listen to the sound of ParPar’s piano-playing echoing up the wooden stairs. The place that held memories of my man’s boyhood, back when he rolled down his grandpa’s driveway in little go-carts. Fearless and joyful he was.⠀ ⠀ And today, it was goodbye. Just another thing to remind me of how temporary things really are.⠀ ⠀ I feel like everywhere I turn, I’m being met with change.⠀ ⠀ But we got one final day in this beautiful garden, with this tree that held its petals way longer than it usually does at this point in the year. We took pictures of everything so that we could keep a little piece of a place that mattered so much.⠀ ⠀ The sound of bees buzzed in the wake of those sweet, white petals blowing loose from their branches and following us on the breeze as we drove away for the last time.⠀ ⠀ Because nothing is permanent, and all we can do is hold on tight and take pains to remember the sweetness as it comes.

Ever feel called to leave your comfort zone but don't feel qualified for the work He is calling you to do? Join the club sister. ‍♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Maybe its a new product you feel called to create, but it means you'll have to learn or invest in a new skill and you are skeptical or worried it’ll take away from your already successful business. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Maybe it's going a whole new direction but no one else is doing it ‘that way’ and you worry you might look a little crazy to others. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Whatever it is-- don’t mistake your calling (or ignore it)because you don't feel equipped, ok He doesn't get the glory when you already know what you're doing. And you don't exercise your faith when you have it 'all figured out' or are most comfortable. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Moses told God He got the wrong guy, that he was a bad speaker and wondered "Who am I?" to deliver people God called him to. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Can you relate Have you been putting off something on your "should-do" list-- an "itch" or divine burden you just can't shake--because you don't feel equipped, worthy, or maybe you too are just fearful of what others may say? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ladies we have everything we need in Him (the time, the resources, the words…) we need only be willing to be the vessel. We need only to say yes and take the first step, show Him that we believe His promises are true-- and let Him do His thing. #hisglorynotmine ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What's one small thing you can do today to walk(even if a baby step) into your calling? Instagram Grid Tip of the Day: We all look at our grid sometimes and feel frustrated— especially, I’ve found, during the Spring and Summer months. The soft light is hard to find amidst those gorgeous, sunny days. And consequently, sunny days means harsher, less flattering light.⠀ ⠀ To keep the dreamy, moody feel of my grid, I sometimes flash back to older photos from the misty seasons to scatter throughout “the gram.” I make sure that the colours still match those of my current seasonal photos, but it just allows me to keep that moody, dramatic feeling that I identify with so much.⠀ ⠀ This one was taken at Lyme Park back in February and I love its soft mist mixed with defined silhouettes of the trees, but the greens still compliment the greens in my current Spring grid.⠀ ⠀ So there’s your tip today: do you have any photos from your favourite season with colours that would allow it to blend nicely into this season? Give it a go!⠀ ⠀ And don’t forget that I’ve got LOADS more tips on how to get a grid you LOVE in my free Instagram Aesthetic Method, which you can grab with the link in my bio!⠀ ⠀ Happy light-chasing, dears! ✨

“God, let me think clearly and brightly; let me live, love, and say it well in good sentences, let me someday see who I am.” - Sylvia Plath⠀ ⠀ That quote feels so apt right now as I’ve been thinking a lot about how temporary things are.⠀ ⠀ It’s incredible because photography allows us to immortalise a moment. But the moment still passes. And I so often take that truth for granted. I so often assume that things will just BE there.⠀ ⠀ I lost my aunt unexpectedly this month. We lost a global treasure as Notre Dame collapsed in a stunning and heartbreaking blaze.⠀ ⠀ And I can’t help but have those thoughts: “I’ll never see Notre Dame in all its glory. I’ll can’t hug my aunt again.”⠀ ⠀ And while my faith does remind me that eternity does sit in waiting, the temporality of this chapter of life is still a ringing echo in my frightened ears.⠀ ⠀ All that to say, seize the day, dear ones. Whether we have 10 years or 100 years, today is precious. Don’t wait to love others and live well, telling yourself that “someday” it will be easier to do those things.⠀ ⠀ We’re not living in someday. We’re living now. And your dreams deserve now’s attention. Your loved ones deserve now’s attention. ⠀ ⠀ What’s one thing you’d regret not doing if you woke up tomorrow and discovered that you’d never have a chance to do it again? What’s one story you don’t want to leave untold?⠀ ⠀ For me, it’s to travel and to tell my loved ones— even the estranged ones— that I love them dearly. God, let me live, love, and say it well in good sentences...
