SWIPE for some exposure. . For nearly 8 years I have dreaded summer. Because that meant my skin would be exposed. Even on my August wedding day I wanted to throw on a t-shirt over my wedding dress to hide the white spots - made more visible when my skin was/is tan in the summer. My battle with #TineaVersicolor is much more than white spots all over my arms, shoulders, back, stomach, chest and face. In my desperate attempt to cover them with makeup, Andrew’s t-shirts, and filters - I began to lose myself. Controlled by what people might think when I wore a spaghetti strap or swimsuits. Friends & family would ask, “what are those from?!” I’d brush it off as “sunspots” or try to pronounce Tinea Versicolor only to be given the “ohhhhhh, interesting, you can’t even tell!” Of course you can tell. You can see them! And I - I could feel them - ruining my self confidence. After visiting a dermatologist, who said, “well some people just get those in humid climates, there’s really nothing you can do, but here’s an ingestible that you can take when not pregnant or breastfeeding or just living life” I didn’t want to take a pill with side affects, so I did my research. I still put a smile on my face, while I googled what could help them be less visible or just disappear. When I understood it was a gut issue, I changed my diet, introduced a probiotic, switched to tea tree body wash and yes even tried the good ole Selsun Blue everyone kept saying would work - and it didn’t. In December 2018 I was introduced to @perspiresaunastudio, an infrared sauna studio with chromotherapy, and this is what changed my life. Detoxing at a cellular level with the ancient healing of light therapy - my skin has not been this happy for years - my soul too because my tinea is gone! They provide a zen like environment that welcomes those with ailments, skin troubles, gut problems, those who have colds, sinus problems, sleep issues, even cancer patients in remission, and health enthusiasts. I’m so grateful to have been working with @perspiresaunastudio for the last month, I’m sure you’ve seen my stories but I wanted to talk more in depth about my experience with infrared sauna technology and chromotherapy, to which I have read countless articles regarding the health benefits for cancer patients, more than I could even fit into this post. ⁣ ⁣ In one month I’ve experienced:⁣ ⁣ -weight loss, on the days I’m to exhausted to physical move and workout, I burn somewhere between 200-400 calories⁣ ⁣ ⁣ - when I’m consistent during the week with sessions I notice a huge difference in my skin, I suffer from extremely bad menopause and chemo cystic acne breakout, mainly on my face because it would happen there but my skin over all feels so much softer⁣ ⁣ ⁣ - My joints and muscle feel less achey, less stiff and help make my days less painful. - these sessions also help kick up my immune system, oral chemo is so hard on me and my white blood cell numbers drop hard come that last week of oral meds.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ - SELF CARE, these 45 mins give me the opportunity to relax, clear my mind, concentrate on my self, no phone, just me and music. This is by far my favorite part. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ I do know with anyone who has had a mastectomy and/or had lymph nodes removed you should consult with your doctors, this may not be for you. Please do not try sauna without full medical clearance. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Big thanks to @perspiresaunastudio for not only providing me with a luxury experience every single time but for helping keep my body and mind strong.
