Each Thursday some of our Co Farmers are responsible for cleaning and preparing our delivery van for all of the deliveries that go out on a Friday. They take great pride in ensuring its thoroughly cleaned and ready to take our lovely produce boxes out to the valued customers who receive them. Its an important job, and they do such a fantastic job, even the ceiling of the van gets a good scrub! #churchfarmardeley #specialneeds #specialneedsparent #specialneedsfamily #specialneedskids #carefarm #hertfordshire #hertfordshiremums #hertfordshirelife #supportlocalbusiness #supportlocalbussiness #hertfordshirebusiness #hertfordshirefood #vegbox #eatlocal #growninherts #hertfordshirefood

Throwback to an amazing hands-on experience!
A few years ago, we went to our local farm and fed the chicken, collected the eggs and more. I have shared more pictures in my stories.
If our house were not semi-detached in a crowded neighbourhood, we would have taken some chickens.
My uncle has some chicken, and we love to take care of them when we visit. He didn't cut their wings and let them free to roam around. He has a cockerel and let them have chicks all the time.
Some of my best memories as a child in preschool was about feeding the leftover lunch to the chicken in the local farm. We used to walk there with the dinner lady.
Give your child as many opportunities to be in touch with the real world. Expand their knowledge about what they experience with new vocabulary (all the fun words to learn about the part of the cockerel!), check the books from the library about the farm, find some interesting material if they like to learn that way!
That farm @church_farm_ardeley, by the way, is an organic, sustainable local working farm. Church Farm Ardeley is a community interest, not-for-profit social enterprise, set up by its founders to innovate and create, replicable and sustainable small farm enterprises. Rural care & education programmes are at the heart of everything we do, providing training and work experience for people with learning disabilities and/or mental health issues and offering educational trips, internships and programmes to local schools and colleges.
{Our April box is about the life cycle of the chicken, I have only a few left! Link in bio}

For those that joined us for bottle feeding our lambs this year, here they are now, 3 months old. The lambs were moved this week onto the village field, they are enjoying newly sewn grass, the shade of a glorious apple tree and lots of attention from passers by :) #churchfarmardeley #freerangefarming #hertfordshire #hertfordshiremums #hertfordshirelife #farmvisit #stayonafarm #lambsofinstagram #lambfeeding
Meet Comet, this beautiful boy was born on Friday and is 1 of twins! Twins are not very common from cows and can lead to complications during the cows gestation period, birth and the initial bonding period. Comet was found in the middle of the field in the rain, very cold and unable to stand. His mum was across the field with his twin, who was much bigger than him, standing and following mum. Our hearts sink when we have to bring a calf in, they find it difficult to feed, and often have health complications that are not initially obvious. This can often be a reason the cow has rejected a calf, they often know before we do and it makes them vulnerable within a herd. Comet was brought in by the team, dried off and warmed under a lamp. He didn't take to the bottle initially but is now calling very loudly when he is hungry! He is being groomed frequently with a warm sponge to replicate a cow licking her calf. He loves this, and its so important. Cows love being groomed, it helps them to bond with their herd and in the early stages it stimulates the muscles and get everything warm and working. For now Comet will be cared for by the farm team, they will start integrating him with the herd soon as its important he learns to be a cow! He will continue to be fed in the field until he learns to steal milk, calves are very good at this and unlike sheep, cows are much more tolerant of sharing their milk with others. Lets hope he finds the Guernsey, she has enough milk to feed the whole herd! #churchfarmardeley #hertfordshiremums #farmvisit #stayonafarm #hertfordshire #hertfordshirelife #hertfordshirebusiness #cows #cow #calf #calves #freerangefarming #carefarming #camping #camp
