I DID THE THING ⠀ ⠀ Completed the European Champion Clubs Cup 2019. ⠀ ⠀ I’ll be honest, I am still In a bit of disbelief that I managed to throw 60m (twice!) this weekend. I went to Spain ranked last and finished 4th, WHAT!? I have not had a great winter, after loosing my Grandad I stopped training to focus on my family because in my heart that’s what I wanted to do. I had no motivation to train and to be honest it wasn’t my priority. ⠀ ⠀ I know a lot of athletes have experienced this weird thing, after months or even years of little to no training, coming back and performing like you’d never left. The body and the mind work in mysterious ways. I am just so grateful for this weekend as I have finally felt like I can keep going and that I’m not totally useless . Our current stack for summer #circletime. I try to feed body, mind, and soul—all three!—first thing in the morning. First, we have breakfast . This feeds our bodies. ⠀ ⠀ When we’re done eating, I move to our soul food. We’re reading Isaiah Day By Day because the girls (ages 12 & 14) are very interested in the prophets right now. The book contains an original translation (NOT a paraphrase), annotations, and a “thought of the day.” It’s broken up into days; the short chunks are perfect. ⠀ ⠀ Lastly, I feed minds. Talk to Me feeds the intellect, giving them something to think about. We read a section per day; I edit somewhat because of the younger two (10 & 12). The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey feeds the imagination, giving them something to dream about. My circle area last year. The carpet I made a grid on with the thin duck tape do students could visually see where their space was. Personal space is HARD for little ones! I feel like they either don’t want others in their space or they are all over their friends . The rainbow around the edge is s visual as well for those times I want students to spread out. The rug is an outdoor rug from Target I found on clearance st the end of summer. My room is bright with lots of colors so I wanted my rug to be more natural. The outdoor rug makes it super easy to clean too. I found this idea on pinterest many years ago and could never find who originally thought up this amazing idea.
