#ColorGuardFlagProtocol - in this case, wrong flag! I forgot to mention this in previous post. This is Boise (ID) High School #AJROTC - you can tell by white strip, called the header, at the head of flag, that this is an outside flag. That means it only gets attached to clips on a halyard. These flags NEVER go on a color guard flagstaff. Army and Air Force put fringe on ALL color guard flags. Only indo/outdoor flags receive fringe. "Do state colors dip [in salute]? This is a question I am receiving from many since I posted about the difference between #EyesRight and #MarchingAtPresent - we do not march at Present Arms, the command is Eyes, Right. So, what happens? Heads turn to right (more on this shortly) and the non-national colors dip. However... Service colors only dip for the Anthem, Chief of Staff, service secretary, and those equal to or higher in rank. No other time. Service colors MUST be carried (the service JROTC color is a suitable replacement). ❌ State flags are not authorized to be carried by MC, N, and CG color guards. ⭐For Army and Air Force, state colors may accompany the US and departmental flags, but CANNOT replace the departmental/JROTC flag. Cadets, military, and paramilitary color guards! You are not authorized to carry the POW/MIA flag in a color guard or separately from the team (it is ONLY carried separately for the funeral of a former POW). Period. AFI 34-1201 strictly forbids it: "will not be paraded". MCO 10520.3 states that (MC, N & CG) personnel will not carry any non-military flag. The Army and the AF are the only two services that allow service members to carry state and territory flags, but other non-military flags are prohibited (AR 840-10). ☢️First responders too? Yes! You follow the Flag Code and, further, to gain insight on what to do, you follow a military D&C manual and other applicable manuals, or my book, The Honor Guard Manual. Standards apply across the board. Further, any joint service color guard carries ONLY the US service colors. Only* for the second slide. #EyesRight - we do not #MarchingAtPresent ⭐Both the Army and the Air Force turn all three heads at Eyes Right on a color guard when halted or marching except for the right rifle guard. ⭐MC, N, & CG turn the service color bearer and left rifle guard heads only when marching and all heads turn except the National color bearer's when halted. ⭐Historic note: top left AF picture - sidearms were usual for color guards decades ago because military police were usually the team members and already armed. ⭐Fun fact: the Marine Corps does not have the National color bearer turn his head because Eyes Right is a salute. . #ColorGuardFlagProtocol #MakeFlagProtocolGreatAgain ✴️Education is ! Sent in by a follower for critique! Sitting and watching a parade. This #NJROTC color passes by (I wonder who stood for the colors as they passed?), and wondered how they did. ❌The biggest issue is the National Ensign being lower than MD flag. That's unacceptable. The guards should have checked to ensure that the harness sockets were level. Easy. But, for the instructor to allow this US very unfortunate. ❌The next big issue: no fringe on the National! Only the Army and Air Force have fringe on the American flag. ❌Third biggest issue is that state flags are not authorized in Navy color guards. Only the USN/NJROTC flag. ❌At least one guard has arm swing - that's not allowed for Marine, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard teams since the rifles are on the outside/outboard shoulder. ✖️Spacing is a bit wide and inconsistent. ❌Grips on rifles are incorrect. ⭐Two hands on the staff is fine, it looks to be windy. ✖️Someone show the Scouts how to carry the flags please. #MakeColorGuardGreatAgain #MakeFlagProtocolGreatAgain #ColorGuardFlagProtocol ✴️Education is !
