Do you know where to find this? This is the Graham Clarke Atrium located at the intersection of the domestic and international check in halls. This area makes for a great meet-up spot, a charging break or a spot to relax and take in YVR’s intricately integrated Sense of Place theme. What you see in the middle is “Celebrating Flight”, a totem pole carved by artist Don Yeomans in 2007. Yeomans also created the talking stick in The Jade Canoe. The totem pole was made as a gift to humans for being first creatures on earth to achieve flight without being born with wings. International terminal expansion: expectation vs reality Pier D is still set to open Summer 2020! This rendering shows just one of our innovative capital expansion projects made possible by our unique not-for-profit operating model. We constantly work to make your airport even better! The multi-year expansion project currently underway will help YVR meet growing passenger demand and better connect British Columbians and local businesses to the world. Pier D will support eight new wide body gates, including four bridged gates and four remote stand operation (RSO) gates. These new gates will allow YVR to welcome more large aircraft including the A380 which has a wingspan of 260-feet! The expansion will continue with YVR’s well-known Sense of Place theme and will include a range of new shopping, dining and experiential amenities!
