I can’t believe I’ve been Vegan for 2 plus years now! I always get asked this simple question: why did I turn Vegan ? And I get nervous every time I have to answer that question! There are soo many ‘Whys’ when it comes to me adopting this lifestyle. But there was only one Why when I turned Vegan. I turned Vegan because I called myself an animal lover but didn’t realise I was a hypocrite by eating them ! I loved my dog but ate pigs, cows, chickens etc. I thought it was natural and necessary to eat these animals. But what shocked me was how unnaturally and inhumanely we treat these animals that become our food. There is nothing normal about breeding billions of them into existence only to be killed a few weeks or years later (much less than their natural lifespan) for our food Many of you have followed my journey and know my why.. but the ‘how’ I turned Vegan was a little tricky. I literally decided to just do it for 2 weeks. A 2 week trial to see if I survive : And what I realised in those 2 weeks was that it wasn’t that hard and that I felt amazing! Fast forward to today I am super excited to be teaming up with @fiapoindia as their ambassador to promote the #21daycompassionchallenge. FIAPO is an amazing Vegan Animal Welfare Organisation. Such beautiful gentle beings. I wish more people saw them this way and we lived in a gentler, kinder world. Perhaps one day things will be different and we will live in harmony with other species and our planet . . Have you ever heard of the term speciesism before? Or thought about why we treat some beings completely differently to others purely based on their species? I recently read a book called “why we love dogs, eat pigs, and wear cows” and it really honed in on how mental attitudes towards different beings are so engrained in society. When you start looking into the psychology of this it’s really quite terrifying.
