Sit tight, the sun’s just a-boat to come up! @katypotaty77 was right in saying that “when @hobartandbeyond put on the #sunrise goods you just can’t beat it” when she enjoyed this view from @somersethobart on the pier. The ridiculously photogenic #HobartWaterfront might just be one of the best spots to start your day, whether you want to get brekky at the waterside @harbourlightscafe or @brookestlarder, or grab a takeaway coffee and sit on the wooden deck, there’s no wrong way to experience this hot spot in @tasmania. TIP: Keep your eyes peeled for the resident seal in these waters, he’s certainly not shy and has taken a fancy to the floating fish and chip shops at #ConstitutionDock

Sunrise over Hobart’s Constitution Dock, with the replica Lady Nelson brig berthed at the Elizabeth Street Pier, thanks to @gregfaull. Hobart’s waterfront is the setting for a remarkable blend of history, scenery, and of course cultural and culinary delights. Take a walk, take time, take it all in. It’s easy to fall for the many charms of our understated capital city that has begun to swell with winter festival anticipation and excitement. Constitution Dock and Hobart, Tasmania’s capital city, thanks to @lifecatchme. The majestic sandstone warehouses in the background are a feature of Hobart’s waterfront and offer a fascinating reminder of Tasmania’s colonial history. These days they contain a luxury hotel and apartments, retail outlets and cafes and restaurants. However, the Hunter Island buildings have a rich and varied history, including in their late-1800s heyday, when they were home to H. Jones & Co. Pty Ltd IXL Jams and a compelling story of hard work, perseverance and community. Thanks for tagging #discovertasmania, Theresa. #hobartandbeyond #waterfront #history
Another Autumn day begins over Tasmania's capital and Constitution Dock in this warming image from @lovethywalrus. Lining the background are the historic sandstone warehouses of the Hunter Street precinct, previously home to Australia's largest jam producer - IXL Jams - and nowadays a dynamic mix of hotels and apartments, restaurants and cafes, galleries and craftspeople. Hunter Street is built on the old Hobart Town causeway, which once joined Hunter Island to the shores of Sullivan’s Cove. Originally the island was connected to the shore at low tide. Colonial passengers disembarked from ships on the island then walked, waded, or were carried to foreshore. Fortunately, accessing and exploring Hobart's waterfront is much easier these days! Good morning Hobart! A stunning, pastel start to the day at first light over Constitution Dock, along the vibrant walkways of the Hobart Waterfront. Located in the Port of Hobart, on the River Derwent, Constitution Dock is an area of our capital city where history seeps from stones of the old colonial buildings which are now galleries, trendy bars and fine eateries offering delectable, fresh seafood! It is also famous for being the rallying point and party venue for the annual Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, where the yachts make their Boxing Day arrivals after the 630 nautical mile journey from Sydney.
