Yesterday I made a big step forward for my reproductive health and my choices - I got my contraceptive implant. It goes in the arm and provides 99.9% protection from pregnancy for 3 years. Compared to condoms and pills, I now have peace of mind but it comes at the cost of some pain and discomfort (initially). I haven’t been able to move around much without sending my arm into searing pain and I’m relying on painkillers to tide me over until it heals. It’s troublesome for sure but this is what it means to take charge of your body and your pleasure. P I L L | I don’t air my personal life all over social media however, I feel like if I didn’t tell you about this I would feel guilty in case something happened to someone else. I’m writing this while still in pain! Before Christmas I had ultrasound scans and internals which came to the conclusion I had a blood clot. My symptoms were bloody awful not going to lie, but I’m not one to moan on here. All I would have to do is run up the stairs and I would bleed or stand up and that would be it and the migraines were just outrageous- a lot more symptoms but just a few there. The blood was very dark / black after a while which I know now was the clot trying to come away. However it’s since, gone to whole new level of stomach cramps and last week was my worse week yet with it! During my scans they also diagnosed me with adenomyosis! Anyway the point of telling you this is that what’s caused every single thing is the contraption pill I was on, rigevidon. I always heard stories of it killing people with blood clots and it should be banned but nhs still give it out so i guess I trusted the nhs as they’re professionals. I just want to spread the awareness that if you take this pill STOP as there is many side effects that haven’t been put into the leaflet like death! This is also the pill that research has proven causes depression and anxiety... explains it all... I’ll stop now but please stop taking it if you are, I didn’t think it would ever happen to me!
