As the sun was coming up this morning, seven trucks loaded with equipment and ten men left the SVEC service area headed towards #NorthCarolina and #HurricaneFlorence. The massive #hurricane is expected to leave widespread damage across much of the #Atlantic seaboard, and SVEC crews will be in place to assist as soon as it is safe to work. Not the meet I hoped for, but after dealing with a nagging knee injury for the past few weeks I can’t really complain. We took advantage of a weaker start list and decided to weigh up a class for this meet. I matched my meet PRs at 73/90 and placed 12th overall in my class at the biggest weightlifting meet in history. "Whatever it takes to get the job done!” Cullman EC’s men who went to South Alabama for #HurricaneMichael storm restoration returned home safely last Friday without much fanfare. It was all just another day’s work they said. However, one picture from their trip told a different story... The only route to reach a @wiregrasselectric member’s property was blocked by standing water and freshly fallen trees. You can see the top of the service pole in the distance. So, what is an out of town lineman with only the clothes on his back to do? Whatever it takes to get the lights back on... And that is just what our own Todd Schiehl did. He stripped down to his boxer shorts, tied two spans of wire around his waist, climbed over trees and waded through chest-deep water just to get the new wire to the pole. Heros really do wear hard hats, and in this case not much else! And without much fanfare once again, 7 of our men left out early yesterday morning on their way to assist @gulfcoastelectric in the Panama City/Mexico Beach area of Florida.
