Another unplanned dinner at our favourite Izakaya Shun... I was watching Netflix the entire day and it was drawing near to the night.... Wowo asked where our dinner would be... given that the boys were at their grandparents... and it is gonna be a date night... Heng Huas are known to be boring...(at least in my definition! ) and at this late hour, it can only be our favourite @izakaya_shun ! Dinner at Shun is always surprising as their name suggest... only the season items will be available in their kitchen! The hotaru ikas have grown big by now... and Issey suggested to have them charcoal-grilled warm... they literally burst in our mouths! Wonderful and tasty! we also had 2 different servings of kasugo-dai.... in sushi and handroll... and the Miyazaki pork handroll (see cover pic) covered with shredded parmigiano cheese... especially touched me.. Issey remembered that I really liked it and had it prepared for me. we also had amadai, sawara and kohada for our sushi... Super yum! well! I love it! We brought a bottle of #cragganmore 12yrs for dinner and issey graciously opened another bottle of Aramasa junmai sake from Akita prefecture, for our dinner! it was really good! Slight effervescent and sweet to the palate... and we enjoyed it. Both Issey and Kudo-san are wizards in the kitchen. If you haven’t tried it... you don’t know what you are missing! Johnnie Walker Green Label is bottled at 43% abv and sits between Johnnie Walker Double Black and Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve but in my personal opinion it out shines both of them. A blend of four single malts: Talisker, Linkwood, Cragganmore and Caol Ila matured for no less than 15yrs in American and European Oak. Discontinued in all markets excluding Taiwan in 2012 but is now back as part of the Johnnie Walker core range.
