The Cretto by Burri or cretto by Gibellina is the name with which the Grande Cretto is colloquially known, a work of land art created site-specific by Alberto Burri between 1984 and 1989 in the place where the old city of Gibellina rose, completely destroyed in 1968 from the Belice earthquake. Burri designed a gigantic monument that traces the streets and alleys of the old city: in fact it rises in the same place where once there were the rubble, currently cemented by Burri's work.
