This exhibition highlights a selection of notable acquisitions that strengthen the Crocker Art Museum’s ceramics holdings in both diversity and scope, the majority by artists not previously represented in the permanent collection. These include influential figures like Rudy Autio, Jun Kaneko, Tony Marsh, Edwin Scheier, Nancy Selvin, and Akio Takamori, as well as more recent leaders like Peter Olson, Zemer Peled, Brian Rochefort, and Dirk Staschke. Although the artists pursue a great variety of approaches and techniques, each embraces the experimental and playful sensibility this versatile medium engenders. So first up is @frankfamilyvineyards (love their Chardonnay!) in Calistoga, then @ehlersestate in St. Helena, and then off to @ashesxdiamonds in Yountville at the recommendation of my good friend @ccspesh !! ✨ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Admittedly I am not a huge drinker so I’m most excited to explore the properties! ‍♀️ Do you have any favorite wineries in the region?

Sometimes, you just need to drop everything and say yes to going to the Ball. Thursday night’s Masquerade at the Crocker Art Museum was exactly what my weary soul needed. It was such a perfect night in every way and I still feel so blessed. It’s a packed weekend in Easton, Maryland! “Richard Diebenkorn: Beginnings, 1942–1955” opens today, April 26, at the @AcademyArtMuseum with a reception from 5:30–7pm, and on Sunday, April 28, at 2pm there is a lecture and book signing with the exhibition’s curator Scott A. Shields. . “My investigation into Richard Diebenkorn’s early work expanded my view of his incredible accomplishments,” said Shields who is the Associate Director and Chief Curator at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento. “As with most artists, Diebenkorn was very much a product of his time and place. Also like most artists, he struggled and searched, fighting through a period of indeterminacy to find his voice, which, in the end, proved stronger than most. This exhibition, I hope, shows that it was the combination of Diebenkorn’s tenacity, intellect, and talent that collectively allowed him to move beyond his artistic beginnings in Northern California and become an artist of international importance.” .
