Good to finally hear some new stuff from The Black Keys ! While “Let’s Rock” has been hyped with the guys getting back to their older days, I don’t really think it sounds like their early albums. Production is slick, the sound is polished like their latest records, the synths and layered effects are gone though. I was afraid of a step backward but it really isn’t. It feels more like a blend of everything they did up to now in a more focused effort. Dan Auerbach’s singing has changed a lot since their early days, he picks up where he left up and the overall album isn’t far from his latest solo output in terms of style, a bit more heavy guitar-oriented. Patrick’s drums are a good welcome back, these guys know how to rock together.
