“Good vibes only” never healed anyone.
.
Real unpopular opinion: we have have to talk about “negative” things.
.
I am a natural little miss sunshine, a glass half full kinda gal. While I have found that it’s a pretty solid way to move around the world, I often find myself minimizing, dismissing and often ignoring problems or “negative” feedback.
.
The thing is, we need to acknowledge the shitty and “negative” because it gives us insight into what isn’t working. It is the most valuable information for growth and healing. Without the introspection into the “negative” we are more likely to continue in cycles which aren’t working. We bandaid or temporarily fix, without getting to the root cause.
.
When we sit and acknowledge the uncomfortable, we are able to dissect how a relationship has slowly deteriorated over time and isn’t going to be healed with another present. We can identify how our deep rooted belief systems may be flawed and helping to keep our problems in place. We can sit with the “negative” and let it give us the key to move forward.
.
So, while all the world is on the “good vibes only” train (myself included, haha) remember that we need the “negative”; not as a way to keep us down but as the key to self-awareness and growth.
.
How do you feel about sitting with the “negative”?
.
Note: if the “negative” is your default and is interfering with your day to day functioning, this is also valuable information! It’s worth noting, with compassion, how this came to be and if seeking help/therapy would be beneficial. No shame-if you need it-ask for it!
I want to make something clear...
Based on my recent posts about physical and mental health and well-being, some of you have been wondering what’s going on with my music...
Let me be abundantly clear. Music is my heart and soul. It is my gift to the world. I could never abandon music. I can not escape it nor would I want to. It’s a part of who I am.
That being said, I feel the music industry is in need of a serious Reset! I see too many artists push themselves too hard, sacrificing their health, their integrity, time with their families and time with their own spirits. Feeling like they need to mold themselves to fit into a certain box or live up to a certain standard and set of expectations.
A few years ago I found myself doing just that. Not truly singing the songs I wanted to sing. Not even truly knowing the artist I want to be. I knew I HAD to take the time to recommit to myself and to my mission:
To be a shining example of what is possible. To bring love and positivity where ever I go. To be a voice for the voiceless and to inspire massive change in our world for the better through music.
Bringing those ideals to mainstream industry is on the forefront of my mind, and part of being able to do that is to LIVE it. So that’s why I’m sharing what I am right now :). Does that make sense?
And hey, @sayrealmusic is releasing new singles monthly leading up to the release of our album in September! Stay tuned for “All My Sisters” our July 17th

Vulnerability is courageous.
.
I think we’ve got it all wrong. We’ve been taught that to be human, to ask for help, to be in our feelings, to admit our lack of knowledge is “weak” -and that this is the last thing we want to be.
.
But this definition of “strength” doesn’t suit us. It keeps our guard up, avoiding intimacy, vulnerability and from showing our authentic selves. It creates a persona, another entity separate from ourselves.
.
There is nothing more courageous than allowing ourselves to be seen, just as we are, flaws and all. So, when you find yourself thinking about not wanting to be perceived as “weak” think about the strength and effort it takes to show up-that’s some badass stuff right there.
.
Growing up, what were you told was “weak”?
Happy Monday! Self-care shouldn’t and isn’t something reserved only for the weekends. It’s not something that needs to take a lot of time, money, or effort.
Have you done any of these today? What else would you add to this collection of easy weekday self-care ideas? #dailyselfcare
