Popping in. Sayin’ hi. Stroking the silly algorithm’s ego so that it doesn’t shove me to the back where you can no longer see me anymore.⠀ ⠀ You know, I’m of two minds about posting to keep the algorithm happy: part of me hates it because it pressures me to post even if I don’t necessarily feel like I have anything of value to say; the other part of me thinks “Meh, well, I don’t HAVE to always pour my heart and soul into a valuable piece of content. Sometimes saying hello with a little touch of beauty is enough.”⠀ ⠀ And maybe keeping the algorithm happy is just another way to serve your people well— by that I mean you do what it takes to keep yourself visible in their feed so that when you DO have something really valuable to say, they’ll find it easily.⠀ ⠀ Idk. That’s just an idea. I have no hard and fast thoughts on this.⠀ ⠀ One of my core brand branches (I’ll define what a “brand branch” is at some point, don’t you worry) is creative freedom. And frankly, creative freedom can be, at times, difficult to determine. ⠀ ⠀ Am I free if I feel dictated by the algorithm? ⠀ ⠀ Am I free if I don’t let myself post unless that post is what the gurus would deem “valuable”? ⠀ ⠀ Am I free to serve the way I WANT to serve?⠀ ⠀ Am I free to step back when I want and step UP when I want?⠀ ⠀ Am I free, quite simply, to post because I like sharing sweet hellos and beautiful images for no other reason (sometimes) than the fact that beauty is good and we should celebrate it?⠀ ⠀ I don’t know if I am that free. Not yet. There’s a lot of noise to drown out, friends. But I’m learning as I go. And today, I wanted to post. Just to say hi and show you a pretty country lane in Castleton.⠀ ⠀ Maybe it’s enough to keep me in the good graces of the algorithm. Maybe it isn’t. But here I am, and here I’ll stay, pursuing freedom with the little moments as well as the big ones.⠀ ⠀ Happy Wednesday.

I felt the squish of the rain water that had taken up space in my socks. I didn’t care.⠀ ⠀ The wind whipped my hair into my face. I didn’t care.⠀ ⠀ My yellow jacked kept my arms dry, but it wasn’t warm enough to cut out the chill that swirled through my bones. I didn’t care.⠀ ⠀ I was alone on the coast of a precious little island. One that had seen centuries of faith and loss and obedience and precious beauty. A sanctuary for the children of the Father. A resting place for His servants, who had served Him long before I had lungs to draw breath.⠀ ⠀ My dear friend @amandabrawnjewellery blessed me with this trip. Out of nowhere. In the midst of a storm that had been raging through my home and my heart for weeks.⠀ ⠀ We paid homage to this island. I got to watch it inspire such beautiful creation out of Amanda as she told the story of the jewelry that was born out of her love for this place. ⠀ ⠀ It was 48 hours of respite— with soaking wet feet and a completely filled memory card on my camera. ⠀ ⠀ It was a reminder that God has existed long before me. That He is eternity itself, and He stretched out His hand and invited me into forever. A forever of breathing in sea air and marvelling at mountains and partnering with Him in the indulgence of beautiful things. A forever of knowing Him better and learning more of myself from the One who made me.⠀ ⠀ He is present in my friendships. He is present in the wind. He is present in the delicate balance of the stones on the shore which mirror the balance I try to strike between my mind, my heart, and my spirit.⠀ ⠀ He is present in those sweet surprises that pull me temporarily out of the raging storm.⠀ ⠀ And sometimes, in His presence, I remember that eternity stretches before me, and oh friends, it is the sweetest surprise of all.
